Kestrel Coal Mine
The Kestrel Coal Mine is an underground coal mine located in the Bowen Basin at Crinum, 51 km northeast of Emerald in Central Queensland, Australia. The mine has coal reserves amounting to 158 million tonnes of coking coal, one of the largest coal reserves in Asia and the world. The mine has an annual production capacity of 4 million tonnes of coal. Both hard/semi hard coking coal and thermal coal is mined. The mine was previously known as Gordonstone Mine. The Kestrel Mine is owned by the Kestrel Joint Venture which comprises Kestrel Coal Resources and Mitsui Kestrel Coal Investment. The mine has been managed by Rio Tinto Coal Australia until 2018 when it was sold to Kestrel Coal Resources( a joint venture between EMR Capital and Adaro Energy). Stacker
A stacker is a large machine used in bulk material handling. Its function is to pile bulk material such as limestone, ores and cereals on to a stockpile. A reclaimer can be used to recover the material. Gold dredges in Alaska had a stacker that was a fixed part of the dredge. It carried over-size material to the tailings pile. Stackers are nominally rated for capacity in tonnes per hour (tph). They normally travel on a rail between stockpiles in the stockyard. A stacker can usually move in at least two directions: horizontally along the rail and vertically by luffing (raising and lowering) its boom. Luffing of the boom minimises dust by reducing the distance that material such as coal needs to fall to the top of the stockpile. The boom is luffed upwards as the height of the stockpile increases. Lilyvale Stand Monument is a heritage-listed memorial at Lilyvale Road, Crinum, Central Highlands Region, Queensland, Australia. It was built in 1998. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 2 April 2004. Blackwater Railway System
The Blackwater railway system is located in Central Queensland and services the coal mining area of the Bowen Basin. It carries coal, as well as products, to other destinations by way of connections to the North Coast Line at Rocklands and the Goonyella Line via Gregory coal mine to Oaky Creek. Together with the Moura line the two railway systems are known as the Capricornia Coal Chain. The Blackwater system is narrow gauge and electrified using 25 kV 50 Hz. The system is used by both electric and diesel locomotives. The Blackwater system has the largest route length of the four coal systems and carries the second highest tonnages on the QR network, after the Goonyella system.
