Kale Kessy (born December 4, 1992) is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger currently playing for the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League (AHL). He was originally drafted in the fourth round, 111th overall, by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Early life Kessy was born on December 4, 1992, in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. His cousin Jennifer Kessy was a silver medalist for the United States in beach volleyball at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Playing career Although Kessy was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, he moved to Swift Current for a couple of years and played peewee hockey. He eventually moved to Medicine Hat at the age of 12 to play bantam and midget hockey. While in Medicine Hat, he attended Notre Dame Academy. Jennifer "Jen" Anne Kessy (born July 31, 1977) is a retired American professional beach volleyball player on the AVP Tour. She currently is the coach of April Ross and Alix Klineman. Early years Growing up in Southern California, Kessy excelled at multiple sports. In high school, she was the MVP of the swim team her junior year and the captain and the MVP of the volleyball team her senior year, earning honors as an All-California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) second team. In 1994, she graduated from Dana Hills High School in Dana Point, California. College Kessy continued her athletic excellence while attending the University of Southern California. She was a member of the volleyball team for all four years (1995–1998) and was named an All-American her senior year. Also, she was a member of the U.S. Junior National Team. Doreen Kessy is a Tanzanian education activist, and entrepreneur - founder and CEO of Jamani Africa a food processing and distribution company based in Tanzania. She is the former Chief Business Officer and Chief Operations Officer at Ubongo Learning Ltd, a social enterprise that provides educational content using cartoons. Kessy joined Ubongo in 2014 to work towards a solution for the lack of fun educational content in Africa produced in local African languages. They believed that by employing Ubongo, instructors' work with children could be supported and made much easier when the topic was taught through cartoons.
