Fatemeh Keshavarz
Fatemeh Keshavarz Ph.D. ( fa, فاطمه كشاورز) is an Iranian academic, Rumi and Persian studies scholar, and a poet in Persian and English. She is the Roshan Chair of Persian Studies and Director of the Roshan Institute for Persian Studies at the University of Maryland, since 2012. Previously, she served as a professor of Persian Language and Comparative Literature for twenty years and chair of the department of Asian and Near Eastern Languages and Literatures at Washington University in St. Louis from 2004 to 2011. Over the years, she has published several notable books including ''Reading Mystical Lyric: the Case of Rumi, Jalal al-Din Rumi'' (1998), ''Recite in the Name of the Red Rose'' (2006) and ''Jasmine and Stars: Reading more than Lolita in Tehran'' (2007). As an activist for peace and justice, in 2008, she received the Hershel Walker 'Peace and Justice' Award. Maryam Keshavarz
Maryam Keshavarz ( fa, مریم کشاورز) is an American filmmaker(Iranian pedigreed) best known for her 2011 film '' Circumstance'' distributed by Participant Media and Roadside Attractions, which won the Audience Award at Sundance Film Festival. Biography Maryam received her BA in Comparative Literature from Northwestern University, an MA in Near Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and an MFA in Film Direction from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. She was also a visiting scholar at the University of Shiraz, Department of Language and Literature. In 2001, with a band of all girl crew and cast, Maryam directed her first experimental 16mm film, entitled ''Sanctuary''. Mohammad-Ali Keshavarz
Mohamad-Ali Keshavarz ( fa, محمدعلی کشاورز; April 15, 1930 – June 14, 2020) was an Iranian cinema and theater actor. Early life He was born on 15 April 1930 in Sichan (neighbourhood), Isfahan. He was the second child of the family of Keshavarz, an artificer family. Career Mohammad Ali Keshavarz graduated from Art School for Acting. He started stage acting in 1960 and began film acting with ''Night of Hunchback'' (1964, Farrokh Ghaffari). He was one of the most experienced and prominent actors of Iranian cinema. He has also appeared in a few television series. Personal life He was divorced and had one daughter who lives in Austria. Keshavarz was hospitalized in August 2011 after a heart attack. He died on June 14, 2020 in Atieh Hospital in Tehran at the age of 90 following a long illness. Keshavarz ( fa, كشاورز; also Romanized as Keshāvarz; also known as Kashāvar) is a city in Keshavarz District of Shahin Dezh County, West Azerbaijan province, West Azerbaijan province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 3,538 in 940 households. The following census in 2011 counted 3,904 people in 1,154 households.
