Kersti Kaljulaid (; born 30 December 1969) is an Estonian politician who served as the fifth president of Estonia between 2016 and 2021. 2016 Estonian Presidential Election
An indirect election took place in Estonia in 2016 to elect the president of Estonia, who is the country's head of state. The Riigikogu — the Parliament of Estonia — elected Kersti Kaljulaid to be the next head of state of Estonia to succeed Toomas Hendrik Ilves, who had served his second and final term as president (as he was term-limited). Kaljulaid is the first female head of state of Estonia. Somewhat unusually, Kaljulaid was elected president only after other candidates could not be elected in three rounds of parliamentary voting and two rounds of voting by an electoral college consisting of members of Parliament and representatives of local governments of Estonia. Filiae Patriae
Filiae Patriae (also korp! Filiae Patriae, abbreviated C!FP) is an Estonian student sorority (Studentenverbindung, distinct from the North American understanding of said term); the oldest sorority in Estonia. Filiae Patriae was founded on 27 October 1920 at the University of Tartu, and operated until 1940, when it was closed after Estonia was unlawfully incorporated into the Soviet Union. Sorority's activity continued in the West: chapters were founded in Canada, USA, Sweden, Australia and Brazil. The sorority was re-established in 1988–89. Filiae Patriae also has friendship treaties with several overseas fraternities, such as the Hämäläis-Osakunta and Nylands Nation of the University of Helsinki, as well as Gästrike-Hälsinge nation of Uppsala University. Radio Kuku ( et, Raadio Kuku, also called ''Kuku-raadio'') is an Estonian radio station. It was the first politically independent privately owned radio station in post-occupation Estonia, established in 1992 by a media businessman and later politician Rein Lang and a founder of the first politically independent newspaper ''Eesti Ekspress'', Hans H. Luik. In the winter of 2014, Kuku had 144,000 regular listeners and was the most popular private radio station in Estonia among the Estonian-speaking population. Almost 80,000 people regularly listen to Kuku's morning and afternoon program. Almost 40 percent of Kuku's listeners have higher education and 60 percent live in cities. Iru Power Plant is a co-generation power plant in Iru village, Maardu, Estonia. It is owned by Enefit Green, a subsidiary of Eesti Energia. The plant has a heating capacity of . History The first unit of power plant was commissioned in 1978. In the beginning it operated as a boiler plant. In 1980, it was converted into co-generation power plant. Mart Laar
Mart Laar (born 22 April 1960) is an Estonian politician and historian. He served as the Prime Minister of Estonia from 1992 to 1994 and from 1999 to 2002. Laar is credited with having helped bring about Estonia's Economy_of_Estonia#Restoration_of_independence,_modernisation_and_liberalisation, rapid economic development during the 1990s. He is a member of the centre-right Isamaa party.
