Kerretta
Kerretta is an experimental rock band from Auckland, New Zealand. The band consists of bass player William Waters; drummer H.Walker; and guitarist David Holmes. They have mostly recorded instrumentals. History Kerretta formed in mid-2005, combining members of Avotor (H.Walker), Meterman (William Waters) and David Holmes who was producing records for the likes of Jakob, and An Emerald City . Their first release was in December 2007, with the release of the Death in the Future/Wisnierska on 7" through Midium Records after playing at various shows throughout New Zealand where an unexpected amount of enthusiasm from New Zealand college radio amounted from this first single. In early 2008 they recorded a 4 track 12" entitled "Antient" with Dale Cotton in Port Chalmers, Dunedin and began supporting the likes of US artist's The Breeders, Trail Of Dead as well as invites to respected festivals such as Big Day Out. Jakob (band)
Jakob is a New Zealand post-rock band, based in the Hawkes Bay city of Napier. The band consists of guitarist Jeff Boyle, bassist Maurice Beckett, and drummer Jason Johnston. They have been compared to such bands as Mogwai, Sonic Youth, and High Dependency Unit, though they largely eschew any vocals or samples in their songs. History The band formed in July 1998, and began by opening for New Zealand bands Salmonella Dub and Pitch Black at the local pub O'Flaherty's. They toured extensively throughout 1999, releasing that same year a self-titled EP recorded with David Holmes at Napier's Venn Production Studios. Taite Music Prize
The Taite Music Prize is an annual New Zealand music award event. It features the same-named prize awarded for the best album from New Zealand. The prize is named after respected New Zealand music journalist and broadcaster Dylan Taite, who died in 2003. The Taite Music Prize was established in 2009 in his honour by Independent Music New Zealand (IMNZ) in conjunction with the Taite family. The first prize was awarded in 2010. The Taite takes its inspiration from successful international prizes such as the Mercury Prize in the UK and the Australian Music Prize. Mono (stylised as MONO) is a Japanese instrumental band, formed in 1999 in Tokyo. The band consists of Takaakira "Taka" Goto (electric guitar, glockenspiel), Hideki "Yoda" Suematsu (electric guitar, glockenspiel), Dahm Majuri Cipolla (drums), and Tamaki Kunishi (bass guitar, electric guitar, piano, glockenspiel). Mono have released eleven studio albums. Pitch Black is a New Zealand electronica duo from Christchurch. History Mike and Paddy met in 1996. Since then they have released five albums, four remix albums and been on six world tours. Their debut album, '' Futureproof'', released in August 1998, rose to the top of the New Zealand electronic charts, despite no marketing or advertising. Their second album, ''Electronomicon'', followed in September 2000, and led to a 30-date tour of New Zealand and Australia. Lullabye Arkestra is a Canadian musical duo from Toronto. Lullabye Arkestra was founded in 2001 by Justin Small, a member of the group Do Make Say Think, and Katia Taylor. Dead Moon
Dead Moon was an American punk rock band active from 1987 to 2006, formed in Portland, Oregon. History Fronted by the singer/guitarist Fred Cole, the band also included the bass guitarist Toody Cole and the drummer Andrew Loomis. Veterans of Portland's independent rock scene, Dead Moon combined dark and lovelorn themes with punk and country music influences into a stripped-down sound. Fred Cole engineered most of the band's recordings and mastered them on a mono recording lathe that was used for The Kingsmen's version of "Louie Louie". Their early records, such as ''In the Graveyard'', were released on the Tombstone Records label, named for the musical equipment store the Coles operated at the time. South By Southwest
South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States.
