Kermit The Frog
Kermit the Frog is a Muppet character created and originally performed by Jim Henson. Introduced in 1955, Kermit serves as the everyman protagonist of numerous Muppet productions, most notably ''Sesame Street'' and ''The Muppet Show'', as well as in other television series, feature films, specials, and public service announcements through the years. He served as a mascot of The Jim Henson Company and appeared in various Henson projects. Kermit performed the hit singles "Bein' Green" in 1970 for ''Sesame Street'' and "Rainbow Connection" in 1979 for ''The Muppet Movie'', the first feature-length film featuring the Muppets. Kermit's original performance of "Rainbow Connection" reached No. 25 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and was added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry in 2021. History Formation, first two albums and break up (1993–1998) The band was formed in 1993 by former Happy Mondays members Shaun Ryder and Bez. It was Ryder's first musical project after the disintegration of Happy Mondays due both to his multiple drug addictions and to disagreements about revenues with other band members. It provides a consistent approach to file transfer, terminal emulation, script programming, and character set conversion across many different computer hardware and operating system platforms. Kermit is a city in and the county seat of Winkler County, Texas, Winkler County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,708 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. The city was named after Kermit Roosevelt following a visit by his father, President Theodore Roosevelt, to the county. History Establishment Kermit began as a convenient supply center for the scattered ranches of the area and became the seat of Winkler County when the county was organized in 1910. The first public school and the post office opened the same year. The town's namesake, Kermit Roosevelt, once visited the T Bar Ranch in northern Winkler County to hunt Pronghorn, antelope a few months before the town was named. In 1916, the county suffered a drought. Many homesteaders and ranchers were forced to leave. In 1924, only Ern Baird's family remained in the town. Kermit is a town in Mingo County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 406 at the 2010 census. Kermit is located along the Tug Fork, opposite Warfield, Kentucky. The Norfolk Southern Railway's Kenova District runs through town. The community was earlier known by the names " Lower Burning Creek", "East Warfield," and "Warfield." The name was changed to "Kermit" when a post office was established in 1906. Kermit was named for Kermit Roosevelt, son of President Theodore Roosevelt, and incorporated in 1909. Geography Kermit is located in the northwestern corner of Mingo County at (37.840783, -82.409465). It primarily occupies bottomland along the eastern bank of the Tug Fork, opposite Warfield, Kentucky.
