Skariah Thomas
Skariah Thomas (31 March 1943 – 18 March 2021) was an Indian politician, a veteran leader of Kerala congress and a former member of Loksabha from Kottayam during 1977–1984. He was the chairman of Kerala Congress (Skaria Thomas) faction group from 2015. Biography He was the chairman of Kerala Congress (Skaria Thomas), which is one among several factions of the Kerala Congress. He was a member of the 6th Lok Sabha, 6th and 7th Lok Sabha, 7th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Kottayam (Lok Sabha constituency), Kottayam constituency of Kerala. He was in office from 1977 to 1984. He died on 18 March 2021 in Kochi due to post-COVID-19 complications. Private life Skariah Thomas was the son of KT Skaria and Achamma. He was married to Lalitha and the couple have 3 daughters Nirmala, Anitha, Latha and a son Sakariya. Kerala Congress (Anti-merger Group) was a faction of Kerala Congress led by Skaria Thomas in Kerala. Kerala Congress (Anti-merger Group) was formerly a part of Left Democratic Front (LDF). History In April 2010 the Kerala Congress (M) and Kerala Congress (J) led by P. J. Joseph decided to merge. But P. C. Thomas opposed the merger. Both P. J. Joseph and P. C. Thomas claimed the party symbol of a bicycle and the party name of Kerala Congress. Registration of Kerala Congress has been frozen by the Election Commission. The case is under review. The P. C. Kottayam
Kottayam () is a municipal town in the Indian state of Kerala. Flanked by the Western Ghats on the east and the Vembanad Lake and paddy fields of Kuttanad on the west. Left Democratic Front (Kerala)
The Left Democratic Front (LDF) is an alliance of left-wing political parties in the state of Kerala, India. It is the current ruling political alliance of Kerala, since 2016. It is one of the two major political alliances in Kerala, the other being Indian National Congress-led United Democratic Front, each of which has been in power alternately for the last four decades. LDF has won the elections to the State Legislature of Kerala in the years 1980, 1987, 1996, 2006, 2016 and had a historic re-election in 2021 where an incumbent government was re-elected for first time in 40 years.
