Kep1er (; ) is a South Korean girl group formed through the Mnet reality survival competition show ''Girls Planet 999'' in 2021 and managed by Swing Entertainment and Wake One Entertainment. The group is composed of nine members: Kim Chae-hyun, Huening Bahiyyih, Choi Yu-jin, Kim Da-yeon, Seo Young-eun, Kang Ye-seo, Hikaru Ezaki, Mashiro Sakamoto, and Shen Xiaoting. They made their official debut on January 3, 2022, with the extended play (EP) ''First Impact''. Name "Kep1er" was a name suggested by viewers of ''Girls Planet 999'' through the website Naver. The name is a reference to the planets in the Kepler star systems named after the 16th century astronomer Johannes Kepler. ''First Impact'' is the debut extended play (EP) by South Korean girl group Kep1er, a project group formed through the 2021 Mnet (TV channel), Mnet reality competition show ''Girls Planet 999''. Kang Ye-seo (; born August 22, 2005), better known mononymously as Yeseo, is a South Korean singer and actress. She is best known for competing on the Mnet survival competition show ''Girls Planet 999'' and ranking 6th in the final episode, making her a member of the group Kep1er. She is also a former member of the South Korean group CutieL and Busters as the lead vocalist. Kang began her acting career in 2010 in a supporting role in the MBC drama, '' Golden Fish. Choi Yu-jin (; born August 12, 1996), known mononymously as Yujin, is a South Korean singer and actress. Originally debuting in 2015 as a member of the South Korean girl group CLC, she is currently active as a member and leader of Kep1er after finishing in third place in the final episode of the survival show ''Girls Planet 999''. It was released by Wake One Entertainment on October 13, 2022, and contains five tracks, including the lead single "We Fresh". Background and release On September 26, Wake One Entertainment announced Kep1er would be releasing their third extended play titled ''Troubleshooter'' on October 13. Wake One (), is a South Korean entertainment company under CJ ENM. The label is home to Davichi, Roy Kim, Ha Hyun-sang, Jo Yu-ri, TO1 and Kep1er (co-managed with Swing Entertainment). ''Produce 48'' () was the third season of the South Korean reality competition series ''Produce 101''. It was a large-scale project in which the public "produces" a girl group by voting for members out of a pool of 96 contestants from South Korea and Japan, as well as voting for the group's concept, name and debut single. The show was a collaboration between the Mnet series ''Produce 101'' and the J-pop idol group AKB48. The winning 12 contestants, with no nationality caps, as voted only by Korean viewers, would promote as a group for two years and six months. The 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards ceremony, also known as 2021 MAMA, organized by CJ E&M and broadcast through its music channel Mnet, took place live on December 11, 2021.
