Matthew Lon Keough ( ; July 3, 1955 – May 1, 2020) was an American professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a right-handed pitcher from through for the Oakland Athletics (1977–1983), New York Yankees (1983–1984), St. Louis Cardinals (1985), Chicago Cubs (1986) and Houston Astros (1986). After his time in MLB, Keough pitched in Nippon Professional Baseball for the Hanshin Tigers for 4 seasons from 1987 through 1990. Keough batted and threw right-handed. Career Keough graduated from Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach, California, in 1973. The Oakland Athletics selected Keough in seventh round of the 1973 Major League Baseball draft. Keough was signed by Oakland as an infielder. Kehoe, originally spelled MacKehoe (from Irish 'son of Eochaidh', a personal name based on 'horse'), is an Irish surname that stems from several distinct septs in Ireland. The most notable branch were from southeastern Ireland in the province of Leinster and are descended from Brandub mac Echach, King of Leinster, in the 6th century AD. This branch were the Chief Filí of Leinster up until the 17th century and inaugurated the Kings of Leinster upon their stone called Leac Mhic Eochadha ("Eochaidh's flagstone"). Another unrelated and separate branch, descends from King Domnall Mór Ua Cellaigh of the O'Kellys of Uí Maine, who died in 1221. Keough (born December 30, 1959) is an American politician, serving as a Republican member of the Idaho Senate from 1996 to 2018 representing the 1st district, and the longest-serving female Senator in Idaho's history. Mark James Keough (born September 30, 1953) is a businessman and a Christian pastor, radio host, and educator from The Woodlands, Texas, who has been serving as the Montgomery County County Judge since January 2019. He previously served as a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 15 in suburban Montgomery County north of Houston. Donald Raymond Keough (September 4, 1926 – February 24, 2015) was an Irish-American businessman and Chairman of the Board of Allen & Company LLC, a New York investment banking firm. He was elected to that position in April 1993. Keough retired as president, chief operating officer and a director of The Coca-Cola Company in April 1993, positions he had held since early 1981; his tenure with the company began in 1950. From 1986 to 1993 he served as Chairman of the Board of Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc., the world's largest bottling system. From 1985 to 1989 he also served as Chairman of Columbia Pictures, Inc., before it was acquired by Sony, Inc. Keough is probably best known for his major role in promoting the infamous reformulation of Coca-Cola, " New Coke" in April, 1985.
