Kenzō Kōno
Kenzō Kōno ( ja, 河野謙三) (May 14, 1901 – October 16, 1983) was President of the Japan Association of Athletics Federations (1965–1975). He was the younger brother of his predecessor, Ichirō Kōno and the uncle of Yōhei Kōno (Ichiro's son). He was a graduate of Waseda University. He belongs to a political dynasty which also includes Tarō Kōno. The is the upper house of the National Diet of Japan. The House of Representatives is the lower house. The House of Councillors is the successor to the pre-war House of Peers. If the two houses disagree on matters of the budget, treaties, or designation of the prime minister, the House of Representatives can insist on its decision. In other decisions, the House of Representatives can override a vote of the House of Councillors only by a two-thirds majority of members present. The House of Councillors has 248 members who each serve six-year terms, two years longer than those of the House of Representatives. Hanji Aoki
was a Japanese sports official. He hailed from Chiba Prefecture. He was an active shot putter in his younger days, and became Japanese champion in 1938. He was president of the Japanese Olympic Committee from 1969 to 1973 and the Japan Association of Athletics Federations from 1975 to 1999, and vice president of the International Association of Athletics Federations from 1991 to 1999. At stepping down he was titled as honorary life vice president. He was decorated with the Olympic Order in silver in 1985, the Order of the Sacred Treasure in 1986 and the IAAF Golden Order of Merit in 2007. Ichirō Kōno
was a postwar Japanese politician and a member of the National Diet. In the 1950s and 1960s, he was the head of the powerful "Konō Faction" within the ruling Liberal Democratic Party of Japan. Konō aspired to become prime minister, but although he held a large number of important party and cabinet positions, reflecting his power and influence, he was not able to rise to the premiership before his death in 1965. Elected to represent a portion of Kanagawa prefecture, Konō also exercised a powerful influence over his home prefecture, to such an extent that Kanagawa came to be nicknamed "Konō's Kingdom" (河野王国, ''Konō ōkoku).
