Kenya competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, from 13 to 29 August 2004. This was the nation's eleventh appearance at the Olympics, except the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow because of the African and United States boycott. National Olympic Committee Kenya (NOCK) sent the nation's smallest delegation to the Games since the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. A total of 46 athletes, 22 men and 24 women, competed only in athletics (specifically in the middle-distance events and marathon), rowing, swimming, and volleyball, the nation's team-based sport at these games. For the first time in its Olympic history, Kenya was represented by more female than male athletes due to the participation of the women's volleyball team. Amar Shah
Amar Shah (born 12 October 1985) is a Kenyan former swimmer who specialized in breaststroke, but also competed in the freestyle relays. He is a single-time Olympian (2004), and a two-time swimmer at the Commonwealth Games (2006, and 2010). Shah qualified for the semifinals in 2010 Commonwealth Games setting a national record in the 50m breaststroke in a time of 30.53. He currently holds three long-course Kenyan records in the 50, 100 and 200 m breaststroke. Nasra Nandha
Nasra or Nasri ( ka, ნასრა, tr) (died 888) was a Georgian prince of the Bagratid dynasty of Tao-Klarjeti involved and eventually killed in a dynastic war with his relatives. The oldest and only surviving son of Guaram Mampali, Nasra murdered his cousin David I, curopalates of Iberia, in 881. The reason for committing this crime probably was that Guaram Mampali prior to his death had given away his all territories which had practically left Nasra without an inheritance. After the murder, Nasra fled to the Byzantine territory from where he was retrieved by his brother-in-law Bagrat I of Abasgia. Bagrat also managed to secure the Byzantine military aid and invaded the Bagratid possessions on Nasra's behalf. David Dunford
David Harvey Dunford (born 29 September 1988) is a swimmer from Kenya who specializes in sprint freestyle. He is an African champion, Commonwealth Games finalist and the second Kenyan swimmer in history to qualify for the Olympic Games (the first was his older brother Jason Dunford). Career His first major senior competition was the 2005 World Championships in Montreal, but the young swimmer failed to advance heats. At the 2006 Short Course World Championships in Shanghai he reached the 200 metres backstroke final, finishing 8th. Reuben Seroney Kosgei (born 2 August 1979 in Kapcherop, Kenya), is a middle and long distance athlete mostly famous for 3000 m steeplechase in which he became the youngest ever winner of an Olympic gold medal in the event when at the age of 21 he ran to victory in Sydney 2000 with a winning time of 8 minutes 21.43 seconds.
