Kentucky Route 44 (KY 44) is a 70.193 mile (112.965 km) long state highway in the U.S. state of Kentucky managed and maintained by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. KY 44 originates at a junction with U.S. Route 31W (Kentucky), U.S. Route 31W and U.S. Route 60 in Kentucky, U.S. Route 60 northeast of West Point, Kentucky, West Point. The Highway continues into Bullitt County, Kentucky, Bullitt County and passes through the towns of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, Shepherdsville and Mount Washington, Kentucky, Mt. Washington. Kentucky Route 53 (KY 53) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Kentucky. Route description The route begins at an intersection with KY 555 south of Willisburg and heads northeast through the city. It continues northeast into Anderson County and intersects the Martha Layne Collins Blue Grass Parkway. Just south of Beaver Lake KY 53 turns toward the northwest and forms a concurrency with US 62. Further north in Glensboro, it forms a concurrency with KY 44 and continues northwest, briefly passing through Spencer County before entering Shelby County. In Shelby County, the route passes through Mount Eden and heads northwest into Shelbyville. In Shelbyville, KY 53 intersects Interstate 64 as well as US 60. Taylorsville Lake
Taylorsville Lake is a artificial lake or reservoir located mainly in Spencer County, Kentucky. As of 12/19/21 Taylorsville Lake has become a hotspot for migrating ducks. According to Central KY Waterfowlers the lake is currently holding a record number of waterfowl. It has been estimated over 20,000 ducks have been harvested in 3 days. Construction by the United States Army Corps of Engineers started in 1974, and flooding began in 1983. The total cost of the lake was $103 million. It is about long. Backwater areas of the lake are also located in Nelson County and Anderson County. The dam is located on the Salt River, and it is estimated that it has prevented more than $129 million in flood damages since it became operational. The lake is named for Taylorsville, the county seat of Spencer County, and today serves as a major economic source for Spencer County, as well as a popular fishing area. Kentucky Route 55
Kentucky Route 55 (KY 55) is a state highway in the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky. The route originates at a junction with U.S. Route 127 in Freedom, Russell County. The route continues through Columbia in Adair County to U.S. Route 68 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, where KY 55 joins US 68 east to Lebanon in Marion County. In Lebanon, KY 55 separates from US 68 and proceeds northward through Springfield in Washington County, Bloomfield in Nelson County, and Taylorsville and Elk Creek in Spencer County. U.S. Route 31E (US 31E) is the easternmost of two parallel routes for U.S. Highway 31 from Nashville, Tennessee, to Louisville, Kentucky. (At one time, it split with U.S. Highway 31W at Sellersburg, Indiana, north of Louisville.)
