Kentucky Route 2262 (KY 2262) is a state highway in Kentucky and a small portion of Indiana. It runs from Kentucky Route 54 and J.R. Miller Boulevard in downtown Owensboro, Kentucky, to Indiana State Road 161 on the north end of the Glover Cary Bridge, north of the Indiana state line. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is Kentucky's state-funded agency charged with building and maintaining federal highways and Kentucky state highways, as well as regulating other transportation related issues. The Transportation Cabinet is led by the Kentucky Secretary of Transportation, who is appointed by the governor of Kentucky. The current Secretary is Jim Gray, who was appointed by Democratic Governor Andy Beshear. As of October 2012, KYTC maintains of roadways in the state. Spencer County, Indiana
Spencer County is a county located in the U.S. state of Indiana. As of the 2010 census, the population was 20,952. The county seat is Rockport. Despite not being in the Owensboro Metropolitan Area, the entire riverfront of the city of Owensboro, Kentucky borders the southern tip of the county. History Spencer County was formed in 1818 from parts of Warrick County and Perry County. It was named for Captain Spier Spencer, killed at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. He was also the namesake for Spencer, Indiana, the county seat of Owen County. Abraham Lincoln lived in Spencer County from 1816 to 1830, between the ages of seven and twenty-one. State highways in Kentucky are maintained by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which classifies routes as either primary or secondary. Some routes, such as Kentucky Route 80, are both primary and secondary, with only a segment of the route listed as part of the primary system. Despite the name, there is no difference in signage between primary and secondary routes. Kentucky Route 2155 (KY 2155) is an urban secondary north–south state highway located entirely in Owensboro in northwest Kentucky. Route description KY 2155 begins at an interchange with Wendell H. Ford Expressway ( U.S. Route 60, US 60) and US 231 on the south side of Owensboro. It follows New Hartford Road north of the expressway, then follows a one-way couplet. Northbound lanes follow Breckinridge Street, while KY 2155 southbound follows Triplet Street. It intersects Parrish Avenue ( KY 54). It continues as a one-way couplet until it reaches East Fifth Street. There, KY 2155 follows Fifth Street until it reaches its northern terminus at the junction with J.R. U.S. Route 431 (US 431) in Kentucky runs from the Tennessee state line south of Adairville to US 60 at Owensboro. It crosses the state in mainly west-central portions of the state, passing through or near towns such as Russellville, Lewisburg, Central City and Livermore. The route goes through Logan, Muhlenberg, McLean County, and Daviess counties. Route description US 431 enters the state going out of Robertson County, Tennessee, and into Logan County south of Adairville. Owensboro is a home rule-class city in and the county seat of Daviess County, Kentucky, United States. It is the fourth-largest city in the state by population. Owensboro Bridge
The Owensboro Bridge is a continuous truss bridge that spans the Ohio River between Owensboro, Kentucky and Spencer County, Indiana. Dedicated to the memory of the late U.S. Congressman Glover H. Cary (1885–1936) and often called the "Glover Cary Bridge," the bridge opened to traffic in September 1940. It originally was a toll bridge, but tolls were discontinued in 1954. State Road 161 in the U.S. State of Indiana is a rural undivided north–south highway in the southwestern portion of the state. Route description State Road 161 begins in Spencer County approximately nine miles southwest of Rockport at the northern end of the Owensboro Bridge across the Ohio River in the Ohio Township. It goes north to Reo. Which passes into Warrick County, where it has concurrencies with State Road 62 and State Road 68.
