Kentucky Route 1682 (KY 1682) is an east–west state highway that traverses central and eastern Christian County in western Kentucky. It is long. Route description KY 1682 begins on the west side of Hopkinsville as the Hopkinsville By-Pass north of U.S. Route 68 (US 68). It originates at the crossroads of US 68/ KY 80, the US 68 By-Pass south of the main route, and itself. KY 1682 bypasses the northern outskirts of Hopkinsville, intersecting KY 91 and KY 109, as well as US 41 and I-169. The bypass ends at a junction with KY 107, but KY 1682 turns onto KY 107 for about before turning off. KY 1682 continues northeast of Hopkinsville as Antioch Church Road, going parallel to KY 107, and it terminates at a junction with KY 189 just southeast of Fearsville. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is Kentucky's state-funded agency charged with building and maintaining federal highways and Kentucky state highways, as well as regulating other transportation related issues. The Transportation Cabinet is led by the Kentucky Secretary of Transportation, who is appointed by the governor of Kentucky. The current Secretary is Jim Gray, who was appointed by Democratic Governor Andy Beshear. As of October 2012, KYTC maintains of roadways in the state. Hopkinsville is a home rule-class city in and the county seat of Christian County, Kentucky, United States. The population at the 2010 census was 31,577. History Early years The area of present-day Hopkinsville was initially claimed in 1796 by Bartholomew Wood as part of a grant for his service in the American Revolution. He and his wife Martha Ann moved from Jonesborough, Tennessee, first to a cabin near present-day W. Seventh and Bethel streets; then to a second cabin near present-day 9th and Virginia streets; and finally to a third home near 14th and Campbell. Following the creation of Christian County the same year, the Woods donated of land and a half interest in their Old Rock Spring to form its seat of government in 1797. By 1798, a log courthouse, jail, and "stray pen" had been built; the next year, John Campbell and Samuel Means laid out the streets for "Christian Court House". Christian County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 72,748. Its county seat is Hopkinsville. The county was formed in 1797. Christian County is part of the Clarksville, TN–KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. Kentucky Route 80
Kentucky Route 80 (KY 80) is a state highway in the southern part of the U.S. state of Kentucky. The route originates on the state's western border at Columbus in Hickman County and stretches across the southern portion of the state, terminating southeast of Elkhorn City on the Virginia state line. It is the longest Kentucky State Highway, though the official distance as listed in route logs is much less due to multiple concurrencies with U.S. Route 68 (US 68) and US 23. The route was split into two segments from 2003 to November 2009. Construction and relocation of KY 80 in Graves, Calloway, and Marshall counties during this time caused the route to be split. It begins in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and ends at the Ohio River, the Kentucky-Illinois state line in northern Crittenden County. Kentucky Route 109 (KY 109) is an north–south state highway that traverses four counties in Kentucky's Pennyrile region. It traverses Christian, Hopkins, Webster, and Union counties. Route description KY 109 starts at an intersection with KY 56 just east of the bridge over the Ohio River that marks the Illinois–Kentucky state line near Old Shawneetown, Illinois. KY 109 runs a few miles east of that bridge and heads south, passing through the Union County communities of Henshaw and Sturgis. Interstate 169 (I-169) is a freeway that travels along the former southern section of the Pennyrile Parkway in Kentucky. The highway was designated on May 7, 2017, after President Donald Trump signed legislation designating the route. It travels north from a trumpet interchange with I-24 south of Hopkinsville to a cloverleaf interchange with its parent, I-69, and the Western Kentucky Parkway near Nortonville. , I-169 is still signed as the Pennyrile Parkway.
