Kentucky Retros
The Kentucky Retros was a professional basketball team based in Louisville, Kentucky that was scheduled to begin play in the American Basketball Association (ABA) in 2007. The team was originally located in Murray, Kentucky and named the Kentucky Colonels after the Louisville-based teams that had played in the ABA previously, but the name was changed in March 2007 in deference to the tradition of those teams. The original Kentucky Colonels were a part of the ABA from 1967 to 1976. On July 17, 1976, owner of the Colonels, John Y. Brown, Jr., agreed to a deal worth $3,000,000 that saw the end of the team just ahead of the 1976 ABA–NBA merger. Unlike their predecessors, the Retros did not stay around for a complete season. American Basketball Association (2000–present)
The American Basketball Association (ABA) is an American semi-professional men's basketball minor league that was founded in 1999. The ABA has teams based in the United States and previously had international teams based in Canada and Mexico. In the past, there were traveling teams from countries such as Australia and Japan who played in the ABA. Additionally, there were players from other countries that were on a U.S. team to showcase other talented athletes in the country. The current ABA bears no relation to the original American Basketball Association (1967–1976) that was considered a major league, and merged with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1976. Marco Killingsworth
Marco Bernard Killingsworth (born February 21, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player. He played in three3 different high schools in Alabama, spending his senior year at Central Park Christian Academy, where he was one of the top players in the nation in the class of 2001. He went on to play three years of college basketball at Auburn, and then transferred to Indiana where he played his senior year. He went undrafted in the 2006 NBA draft and started his professional career in Europe with Turkish team Darüşşafaka. He has played several years in Israel, where he earned three All-Star selections. Throughout his career he has played in Estonia, France, Israel, Italy, Puerto Rico, Russia, South Korea, Turkey and Ukraine.
