Kent Cravens
Kent L. Cravens (born January 25, 1960) is an American politician and businessman who served as a member of the New Mexico Senate from January 2001 to September 29, 2011. Early life and education Cravens was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attended the New Mexico Military Institute for two years before graduating from Manzano High School in 1978. Career From 1989 to 1997, Cravens owned Premier Foods Incorporated. After his sister-in-law was killed in a drunk driving incident in 1992, Cravens began lobbying the New Mexico Legislature to enact stricter DWI laws. In 1999, he founded Alphagraphics Print Shop. He has also worked in the real estate industry. In 1998, Cravens became the vice chair of the Bernalillo County, New Mexico Republican Party. Lisa Curtis
Lisa K. Curtis is an American politician and attorney who served as a member of the New Mexico Senate from 2012 to 2013. Curtis was appointed to the Senate after the resignation of Kent Cravens. She was defeated in her bid for a full term by Mark Moores and left office in January 2013. Education Curtis earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico and a Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law. Career Since graduating from law school in 1993, Curtis has worked as a malpractice attorney in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is a managing partner of Curtis and Co. New Mexico Military Institute
New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a public military junior college and high school in Roswell, New Mexico. Founded in 1891, NMMI operates under the auspices of the State of New Mexico, under a dedicated Board of Regents that reports to the Governor of New Mexico. Located in downtown Roswell, NMMI enrolls nearly 1,000 cadets at the junior college and high school levels each year. NMMI is the only state-supported military college located in the western United States and has many notable alumni who have served at senior levels in the military and private sector. Manzano High School
Manzano High School is a public high school located in northeast Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is part of the Albuquerque Public Schools system. The current principal is Rachel Vigil. History While still sophomores, Manzano's first senior class attended classes at Sandia High School (1959–1960), sharing the facility. The next school year (1960–1961), the Manzano students, now juniors, along with the new sophomore class, started the year at Sandia, and, when the new school was ready, moved into Manzano High on December 19, 1960. Seniors who lived in the new Manzano boundaries that year remained at Sandia, regardless of which district they lived in, so the new school opened with only sophomores and juniors attending. The first senior class was graduated on June 6, 1962. The school has now been in operation at its original location for over sixty years.
