Kenny Mitchell
Kenny Mitchell (born February 7, 1960 in Stockton, CA) is a former professional boxer. Amateur career Mitchell won the New York Golden Gloves three times. He won the 112 lb Open Championships in 1978, 1979 and 1980. Mitchell was defeated in the 1977 112 lb Sub-Novice Championship by Gino Gelormino. Mitchell trained at the Morrisania Youth Center in 1977 and 1978. In 1979 and 1980 Mitchell trained at the Fort Apache Boys Club. Both Gyms are located in the Bronx, New York. Professional career Mitchell began his career in 1981 and in 1989 captured the Newly Created and vacant WBO super bantamweight title with a win over Julio Gervacio by decision. He defended the belt once before losing it to Valerio Nati in later in 1989 by disqualification. In the bout, Mitchell was DQ'ed for illegal use of his head. Erik Isaac Morales Elvira (; born September 1, 1976) is a Mexican former professional boxer who competed from 1993 to 2012. He is the first Mexico-born boxer in history to win world titles in four different weight classes, having held the WBC super bantamweight title from 1997 to 2000, the WBC featherweight twice between 2001 and 2003, the unified WBC and IBF super featherweight titles in 2004, and the WBC light welterweight title from 2011 to 2012. Morales defeated fifteen world champions during the course of his career, and is famous for his trilogies with fellow Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera, as well as Manny Pacquiao. Disqualification (boxing)
A disqualification (abbreviated DQ) is a term used when a bout is stopped short of knockout or judges' decision because, intentionally, one or both contestants have repeatedly or flagrantly fouled an opponent or violated other rules. The disqualified boxer automatically loses the bout to the opponent. If both are disqualified, (termed a double disqualification) the result is usually declared a no contest regardless of round. Most disqualifications happen for repeated intentional fouling such as headbutting, low blows, rabbit punches, biting and the like. Typically, a referee will first verbally warn offenders or direct a point deduction first before disqualifying a boxer.
