Kenneth Merz
Kenneth M. Merz Jr. is an American biochemist and molecular biologist currently the Joseph Zichis Chair and a distinguished university professor at Michigan State University and editor-in-chief of American Chemical Society's ''Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling''. A highly cited expert in his field, his research interests are in computational chemistry and biology and computer-aided drug design (CADD). His group has been involved in developing the widely using AMBER suite of programs for simulating chemical and biological systems and the QUICK program for quantum chemical calculations. Education and early life Merz was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on January 24, 1959. His family moved to Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Harriton High School in 1977. Harriton High School is a public secondary school serving portions of Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania. The school is located on the Philadelphia Main Line. Harriton is one of two high schools in the Lower Merion School District; the other is Lower Merion High School. History In 1957, a new "campus-style" school was designed by architect Vincent Kling. Peter Kollman
Peter Andrew Kollman (July 24, 1944–May 25, 2001) was a professor of chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of California, San Francisco. He is known for his work in computational chemistry, molecular modeling and bioinformatics, especially for his role in the development of the AMBER force field (chemistry), force field and molecular dynamics software package. Biography Kollman obtained his B.A. from Grinnell College in 1966 and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1967 and 1970 respectively. His PhD supervisor was Leland C.
