Kenneth G. Miller
Kenneth G. Miller (born 1956) is an American geologist who is currently a distinguished professor at Rutgers University. Early life and education Born in 1956, Miller grew up in Medford, New Jersey. In 1978, he received an A.B. from Rutgers College, and in 1982, received a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program in Oceanography. Career He went on to work as an Associate Research Scientist at Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory from 1983 to 1988 and has taught at Rutgers University since 1987. Miller is a veteran of 8 scientific cruises. He has integrated offshore seismic and drilling activities with onshore drilling: since 1993, he has been Chief Scientist of the New Jersey Coastal Plain Drilling Project which continuously cored thirteen sites. Geology
Geology () is a branch of natural science concerned with Earth and other astronomical objects, the features or rocks of which it is composed, and the processes by which they change over time. Barnegat Bay
Barnegat Bay is a small brackish arm of the Atlantic Ocean, approximately long, along the coast of Ocean County, New Jersey in the United States. It is separated from the Atlantic by the long Island Beach State Park (colloquially called a "barrier island"), as well as by the north end of Long Beach Island, popular segments of the Jersey Shore. The bay is fed by several small rivers, including the Toms River, the Forked River, the Metedeconk River, Cedar Creek, Oyster Creek, Mill Creek, the Westecunk Creek and the Tuckerton Creek which empty into the bay through small estuaries along its inner shore. The communities of Toms River, Silverton, and Forked River sit along the river estuaries on the bay. Ocean Township is a township in Ocean County, New Jersey. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 8,332, reflecting an increase of 1,882 (+29.2%) from the 6,450 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 1,034 (+19.1%) from the 5,416 counted in the 1990 Census.
