Kenneth Davis (basketball)
Kenneth Bryan Davis (born September 12, 1948) is an American former basketball player. Davis was born in Slat, Kentucky. After his collegiate career as a small college All-American at Georgetown College, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order, and a short stint with the Marathon Oil AAU team, Davis was named Captain of the U.S. national team in the 1972 Olympics. In the aftermath of the controversial finish to the gold medal game, Davis famously led the United States team in a refusal to accept the silver medal and has a provision in his will that neither his wife nor children may accept the medal after his death. After his basketball career ended, Davis became and still is a sales representative for Converse (39 years) and also is a noted motivational speaker residing in Garrard County, Kentucky. Kenneth Culp Davis (December 19, 1908 August 30, 2003) was an American legal scholar remembered as "the father of administrative law." He was a professor of law at West Virginia University from 1935 to 1939, at the University of Texas at Austin from 1940 to 1948, at Harvard University from 1948 to 1950, at the University of Minnesota from 1950 to 1960, at the University of Chicago from 1961 to 1976, and at the University of San Diego from 1976 until his retirement in 1994. Davis was a prominent figure in the development of American administrative law. He played a major role in the drafting of the Administrative Procedure Act, which the U.S. Congress passed in 1946, and in 1958 he published the first edition of his treatise on administrative law, which remains the primary treatise on the subject. Kenneth Earl Davis (born April 16, 1962) is a former professional American football running back who played for the National Football League, NFL's Green Bay Packers from 1986–1988 and the Buffalo Bills from 1989–1994. College career Before his NFL career, Davis played for Texas Christian University from 1982–1985. As a junior, he rushed for 1,611 yards (#3 in the NCAA) and 16 touchdowns, earning him a first-team selection on the College Football All-America Team. He also had the 5th most votes of all candidates for the Heisman Trophy that year. Kenn Davis (1932–2010) was an American surrealist painter and mystery novel writer. During the 1950s and 1960s he was associated with the Beat Generation at San Francisco's North Beach. Life and education Kenn Davis was born as Kenneth Allan Schmoker in Salinas, California. After his parents divorced, he moved at age 5 with his mother and younger brother (born Marvin Schmoker) to San Francisco. He attended grammar school in San Francisco. He went to finger painting and drawing classes on Saturdays at the San Francisco Museum of Art, today's San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. At the beginning of WWII, age 10, Kenn and his brother attended a Catholic boy's boarding school in Marin County across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco.
