Kenneth Alexander (economist)
Sir Kenneth John Wilson Alexander (14 March 1922 – 27 March 2001) was a Scottish economist and university administrator. He also had strong links to the Scottish steel and shipbuilding industries. Life He was born in Edinburgh, the son of William Wilson Alexander. He won a scholarship to George Heriot's School and then, after service in the RAF in the Second World War, studied at the Bonar College of Economics in Dundee (part of University College, Dundee) graduating with first class honours in 1949. He did postgraduate research at Leeds University 1949 to 1951 then lectured at Sheffield University until 1956 when he moved to lecture at Aberdeen University. In 1963 Alexander was created the first Professor of Economics at Strathclyde University (1963–80). Kenneth Cooper Alexander (born October 17, 1966) is an American politician currently serving as mayor of Norfolk, Virginia. Alexander also serves as chancellor for twenty career colleges which includes: (i) Centura College; a healthcare, business, and skilled trade programs school with four campuses in Hampton Roads and one in Richmond, Virginia; (ii) Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM), founded in Norfolk and now operating fourteen campuses nationwide and growing to become the largest system of aviation maintenance schools in the country; (iii) Tidewater Tech, a trade school located in Norfolk which offers welding and automotive mechanics programs and is currently the largest supplier of certified welders and HVAC technicians in the Commonwealth. Kenneth Jack (Kenny) Alexander (born April 1969) is a British businessman, and was the chief executive (CEO) of GVC Holdings, a gambling company based in the Isle of Man, from 2007 to 2020. Early life Kenneth Jack Alexander was born in April 1969, in Ayrshire, Scotland. He grew up in North Ayrshire, and earned a bachelor's degree in accountancy from the University of Glasgow. Career In 1991, he joined the accountants Grant Thornton, where he worked for five years and qualified as a chartered accountant. In 1996, he joined Hazlewood Foods as a financial controller. In 2000, he joined Sportingbet, having seen the job advertised in the ''Racing Post'', and by 2007 had risen to become head of its European operations.
