Kenmore is a riverside suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Kenmore had a population of 9,675 people. Geography Kenmore is on the Brisbane River by road south-west of the Brisbane GPO. The suburb is bounded to the north-east by Cubberla Creek, to the south-east by the Centenary Highway, to the south by the Brisbane River and to the west by Moggill Creek. Mosquito Island is a island in the Brisbane River in the south of the suburb (), but there is no longer a channel separating it from the mainland. The island is undeveloped. History European settlement began in the 1840s and was part of a sheep and cattle run which extended from Milton to Mount Crosby. In the 1850s land was released to new settlers from Britain in 15 to 20 acre lots. Kenmore (Spotsylvania County, Virginia)
Kenmore, (also known as Kenmore Woods), is a historic house in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, United States. It was built in 1829 by Samuel Alsop, Jr. (1776–1859) for his daughter Ann Eliza and her husband, John M. Anderson. The home bears the same name as the home of Fielding and Betty Lewis (Betty was the sister of George Washington) in nearby Fredericksburg, Virginia. To distinguish the houses, Kenmore in Spotsylvania County was renamed Kenmore Woods. Samuel Alsop, Jr. designed a number of homes in Spotsylvania County. In addition to Kenmore, he also designed and built "Oakley" for another daughter as well as his own home, " Fairview". In all, Alsop designed and built 10 homes. Design Begun in 1828 and finished in 1829, the design of the home is Federal-style. The house was built on that Alsop purchased in 1821. Kenmore ( gd, A' Cheannmhor, IPA:[ˈaˈçaun̴̪auvɔɾ]) is a small village in Perthshire, in the Scottish Highlands, Highlands of Scotland, located where Loch Tay drains into the River Tay. History The village dates from the 16th century. It and the neighbouring Castle were originally known as Balloch (from Scottish Gaelic language, Gaelic ''bealach'', 'pass'). The original village was sited on the north side of river approximately from its present site and was known as Inchadney. In 1540 Sir Colin Campbell of Glenorchy started the construction of Balloch castle on the opposite bank of the river and the entire village was moved to a prominent headland by the shores of Loch Tay, hence the name Kenmore, which translates from Scots Gaelic to "big (or large) head". Kenmore is a rural community in Osgoode Ward in the southeastern corner of the City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Prior to amalgamation in 2001, it was located in Osgoode Township. It consists of two small residential neighbourhoods and farmland. Notable features include Kenmore Bicentennial Park, Kenmore Community Centre, and the Castor River, a tributary of the South Nation River. According to the Canada 2011 Census, the population of the surrounding blocks was 501. Significant local events include the Royal Canadian Legion honouring of war dead with a Remembrance Service every November at the Kenmore cenotaph. There is a Kenmore Women's Institute, and the Kenmore Community Association meets regularly at Kenmore Hall. The Kenmore Hotel is a historic building at 74 North Pearl Street (NY 32) in the city of Albany, New York. History The Kenmore was built in 1878 by an African-American, Adam Blake (April 6, 1830 – September 7, 1881), and owned by him until his death, at which time it was taken over by his widow Catherine, who continued until 1887. Adam Blake was named for his father, a slave of General Stephen Van Rensselaer III at the Manor House. Adam Blake, Jr., was considered a "worthy and respected citizen, and first-class caterer for the public" and as the "richest and best-known business man of his race" in Albany County. Blake had owned the hotel Congress Hall on the corner of Washington Avenue and Park Street until it was demolished by the state of New York to make way for the new New York State Capitol building in 1878. Kenmore High School was a public high school in Akron, Ohio. It was 1 of 7 high schools in the Akron Public Schools district. The schools mascot was the Cardinals. They were a member of the Akron City Series athletic conference. History The original Kenmore High School was constructed in 1916. Population in the Village of Kenmore grew rapidly, which resulted in an addition the next year. It was originally part of the Coventry Township District, but was annexed to the Akron Public Schools in 1929. The school housed elementary and high school students for many years. More additions were made to the school in 1952 and 1955. The oldest parts of the school were razed, and the current Kenmore High School was built in 1981. Kenmore merged with Garfield High School for the 2017–18 school year due to declining enrollment and rising costs. Kenmore Farm
Kenmore Farm is a historic farm and educational property at 369 Kenmore Road, just outside Amherst, Virginia. The centerpiece of the more than property is a c. 1856 brick Greek Revival farmhouse, built by Samuel Garland, Sr., a prominent local lawyer and politician. The property was used intermittently between 1872 and 1899 as a preparatory high school, operated by Henry Aubrey Strode, who later became the first president of Clemson University. As such, its building complex includes a dormitory and apartment building in addition to a variety of mainly agricultural outbuildings, among which are a corn crib and barn, and the remnants of an outdoor summer kitchen. The property has seen predominantly agricultural use in the 20th century. The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. Kenmore Air Harbor Seaplane Base, or Seattle Lake Union Seaplane Base, is a seaplane base and international airport on Lake Union, Washington, U.S., north of Downtown Seattle. Facilities and aircraft Kenmore Air Harbor Seaplane Base is at an elevation of above mean sea level. It has one seaplane landing area designated 16/34. For the 12 months ending December 31, 2007, the airport had 35,500 aircraft operations, an average of 97 per day: 72% air taxi and 28% general aviation. Airlines and destinations Passenger History The first seaplane flight from Lake Union was by William E. Boeing, on June 15, 1916.
