Kenko Matsuki
is a Japanese politician and a member of the House of Representatives in the Diet. Overview A native of Sapporo, Hokkaidō and graduate of Aoyama Gakuin University, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 2003 after unsuccessful runs in 1996 and 2000. In 2010, Matsuki was expelled from the Democratic Party of Japan for voting in favor of a no-confidence motion in then-Prime Minister Naoto Kan. He was expelled from the party the same day and served the rest of the term as an independent. He ran for reelection in 2012 and 2013 as a member of the New Party Daichi, but lost. In 2014 he ran as a candidate of the Japan Innovation Party and gained a Diet seat through the Hokkaido proportional representation block. In 2021 he won the Hokkaido 2nd district as a member of the Constitutional Democratic Party after the LDP incumbent resigned over corruption accusations. Hokkaido 2nd District
is a single-member electoral district for the House of Representatives, the lower house of the National Diet of Japan. It is located in Sapporo, the prefectural capital of Hokkaido and consists of the Higashi ("East") ward and most of the Kita ("North") ward. The current Representative is Kenko Matsuki, member of the CDP. He won the seat in a special election in April 2021 and was reelected in the general election later that year. Matsuki was formerly a representative of the Hokkaido 12th district. The Representative from the district from 2012 to 2020 was Liberal Democrat Takamori Yoshikawa. In 2020 he resigned due to accusations of accepting bribes during his time as Agriculture Minister. ''JANJAN'' (), short for ''Japan Alternative News for Justices and New Cultures'' (), was a Japanese online newspaper started by Ken Takeuchi, journalist and former mayor of Kamakura, Kanagawa. Launched in February 2003, the newspaper is credited for pioneering citizen journalism in Japan. After registration, anyone was free to post comments on the JANJAN website. However, there were different windows for registering depending on the nationality or ethnicity of the potential poster (i.e. a different one for "Foreigners" (外国の方) and Japanese). The bulk of the newspaper's revenue came from advertisements by its corporate sponsor. Due a lack of revenue, the newspaper ceased publication at the end of March 2010.
