Kenfig Hill RFC
Kenfig Hill Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team from the village of Kenfig Hill, South Wales. Kenfig Hill RFC presently play in the Welsh Rugby Union Division one west. The club is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for the Ospreys. The club fields a First, Seconds, Youth and Junior teams. A club was first founded at Kenfig in 1897, though not taking the name Kenfig Hill RFC at the time. In 1914 the club, like many teams in the area, went into liquidation, but reformed after the First World War, playing from Croft Goch Playing Fields. Kenfig Hill
Kenfig Hill ( cy, Mynydd Cynffig) is a village in Bridgend County Borough, South Wales. It is bordered by Pyle to the south-west, Cefn Cribwr to the north-east, North Cornelly to the south and Moel Ton-Mawr mountain to the north. The nearest train station is Pyle on the South Wales Main Line. The largest nearby outside connection is the M4 just south of the village that leads from Carmarthenshire to London. Sport and leisure Bedford Park is a popular park for leisure activities. Kenfig Hill RFC are a rugby union team founded in 1897, and play their home games at Croft Goch Playing Fields. The village is also home to Kenfig Hill AFC, an association football team that competes in the Port Talbot Football League. Tim Fauvel
Timothy John Fauvel (born 9 June 1960) is a Welsh former rugby union international. Born in Bridgend, Fauvel was a back-row forward who played for Aberavon. Plagued at times by injury, which caused him to withdraw from Wales' 1986 Pacific tour, he gained his only Wales cap against the All Blacks on the tour of New Zealand two years later. He substituted No. 8 Paul Moriarty at half-time in the 1st Test, held at Lancaster Park in Christchurch. This gives him the distinction of being the last Aberavon player to have been capped for Wales. Matthew Wintle
Matthew Edward Wintle (born 12 February 1972) is a Welsh former rugby union international. Wintle grew up in Kenfig Hill and attended Cynffig Comprehensive School. Moving to London to study medicine, he played his early senior rugby for London Welsh, but returned to Wales in 1992 and signed with Llanelli. A centre, Wintle was capped once for Wales, in a win over Italy at Cardiff Arms Park in 1996. His elder brother Richard, who was also a three-quarter, had claimed a solitary Wales cap himself eight years earlier. Wintle, a medical graduate of Cardiff University, relocated to San Diego in the early 2000s and became Global Medical Director of Amylin Pharmaceuticals. He has since returned to the United Kingdom. Alan John Phillips (born 21 August 1954) is a former international rugby union player and manager. A hooker, he played his club rugby for Cardiff RFC his modern game of forward play being so impressive that Cardiff selectors played him straight out of youth rugby (Kenfig Hill RFC). Ned Jenkins
Ned Jenkins (28 July 1904 – 8 November 1990) was an international rugby union lock who represented Wales and played club rugby for Aberavon. Like teammate Tom Arthur, Jenkins was an amateur boxer. Rugby career Jenkins joined Aberavon in 1925 at the height of their 'golden era' which saw the team crowned Welsh Club Champions four consecutive years from the 1923/24 to the 1926/27 season. Jenkins would later captain Aberavon for three seasons in the late early 1930s and was part of the joint Neath / Aberavon team that narrowly lost to the 1930 touring South Africans. David Morgan Jenkins
David "Dai" Morgan Jenkins (22 May 1901 – 22 April 1968) was a Welsh dual-code international rugby union, and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1920s and 1930s. As an amateur union player he represented Kenfig Hill, Treorchy and Glamorgan Police RFC, while as a professional rugby league footballer he played for Hunslet, Leeds and Dewsbury. Playing career Jenkins first played rugby as a school boy, representing Bryndu School in Kenfig Hill. A keen sportsman as a youth, he also enjoyed association football, and had trials with Swansea AFC. Raymond Giles (born 15 January 1961) is a former Welsh and Aberavon RFC and Cardiff RFC rugby union player.
