The College of Agriculture and Bioresources is a faculty at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It has an annual budget of $38 million and an enrolment of approximately 1,000 students studying at the diploma, undergraduate degree, graduate degree and postgraduate levels. The College has approximately 350 employees, including faculty, research scientists, administrative and scientific support staff. History The University of Saskatchewan established its College of Agriculture in 1909. Between 1914 and 1922 the College teamed up with the Saskatchewan Department of Agriculture to operate the Better Farming Train throughout rural Saskatchewan. The University Council approved a change of the name of the college to the "College of Agriculture and Bioresources" in June 2005. Augustus Kenderdine
Augustus Frederick Lafosse (Gus) Kenderdine (1870–1947) was a landscape and portrait artist of Lancashire and Saskatchewan, a farmer of Saskatchewan, and academic at the University of Saskatchewan. England Kenderdine was born the third of six children to Richard and Annie Kenderdine on 31 March 1870 at Chorlton-upon-Medlock in Lancashire, and subsequently christened at the Manchester Cathedral on 23 April 1870. Kenderdine first studied art under his godfather, Chevalier de la Fosse, a Belgian-born painter and photographer, at the Manchester School of Art, now part of the Manchester Metropolitan University. Subsequently, he was apprenticed to several local artists before establishing the business of "Gus Kenderdine: Photographer and Art Dealer" in 1890. Canadian Agriculture Safety Association
The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association was established in 1993 in response to an identified need for a national farm safety networking and coordinating agency to address problems of illness, injuries and accidental death in farmers, their families and agricultural workers. Since then, CASA has worked to improve the health and safety conditions of those who live and work on Canadian farms. CASA is funded by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Renewal Chapter and has applied for similar support under the federal government's Growing Forward program for 2009–2013. In the past, CASA acted as facilitator and enabler. For instance, in 2007-08, CASA extended $637,365 to 20 organizations for 24 farm safety projects, directly reaching more than 376,000 producers across Canada.
