Ken Whillans

	Ken Whillans Kenneth Gilmour 'Ken' Whillans (8 August 1927 – 24 August 1990) served as Mayor of the City of Brampton from 1982 to 1990. Personal life and family Whillans was born in Ottawa. He had a twin brother, Don. Son Doug Whillans has run for public office on multiple ballots, was successful in 2014 and now serves as a City Councillor for Wards 2 and 6. As alderman Whillans led efforts to revamp Citizens Advisory Committees while in office as an alderman. Mayor of Brampton Whillans was elected mayor in 1982 following the death of James Archdekin, who died while in office of a heart attack. Whillans ran against Terry Miller in the two-man race. Leo Archdekin was favoured as a candidate by the local media but chose not to run. The same election saw five aldermen win their seats by acclamation. 	Peter Robertson (politician) Peter Robertson was mayor of Brampton, Ontario from 1991 to 2000. In 2000, he was defeated in the municipal election by then-councillor Susan Fennell. Background In 1970, Toronto Gore Township considered developing the community of Castlemore into a city of thirty thousand, over a five-year period. The community had the smallest population of any township within Peel, and neighboured Bramalea, a "satellite city" in Chinguacousy Township. The plan was to include developing a portion of the Claireville Conservation Area. Then an education consultant, Robertson spoke out at a public meeting on the plan, expressing concerns about possible changes to the quality of life in the area. It is a tributary of Lake Ontario and runs from Caledon, Ontario, Caledon to southern Etobicoke, part of the City of Toronto. 	Jeff Rice ''The Night Stalker'' is an American made for television horror film which aired on ABC on January 11, 1972 as their ABC Movie of the Week. In the film, an investigative reporter, played by Darren McGavin, comes to suspect that a serial killer in the Las Vegas area is actually a vampire. The film was based on the then-unpublished novel by Jeff Rice titled ''The Kolchak Papers'' (a.k.a. ''The Kolchak Tapes''). Rice said he wrote the novel because, "I'd always wanted to write a vampire story, but more because I wanted to write something that involved Las Vegas." Rice had difficulty finding a publisher willing to buy the manuscript until agent Rick Ray read it and realized the novel would make a good movie. 	Bob Callahan Robert V. Callahan (April 11, 1937–December 26, 2020) is a former politician from Ontario, Canada. He served as a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1985 to 1995 representing the ridings of Brampton and Brampton South. From 1969 to 1985, and from 1997 to 2014 he served as a Brampton city councillor. Background Callahan was born and raised in South Bronx, New York City. His family left for Canada when he was 17. Callahan has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a law degree from Osgoode Hall at York University.
