Ken Seeley
Kenneth Raymond Seeley (born October 25, 1962) is an interventionist and author. He is best known for his appearances on the A&E reality show, '' Intervention''. Certified as a CIP, CCMI-M, RAS, CATC, Seeley himself has been sober since July 14, 1989. Since then, he has worked full-time in the business of recovery. Career Seeley is the author of ''Face It and Fix It'', published by HarperOne in 2009. Seeley has remained involved, professionally and personally, in recovery since 1989. In an early episode of ''Intervention'' he revealed he was once addicted to crystal meth. He became sober on July 14, 1989. He is a Certified Intervention Professional, Master's Level Case Manager / Interventionist, Registered Addiction Specialist, and Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor. Intervention (counseling)
An intervention is an orchestrated attempt by one or many people – usually family and friends – to get someone to seek professional help with a substance use disorder or some kind of traumatic event or crisis, or other serious problem. Intervention can also refer to the act of using a similar technique within a therapy session. Interventions have been used to address serious personal problems, including alcohol use disorder, compulsive gambling, substance use disorder, compulsive eating and other eating disorders, self harm and being the victim of abuse. Sober Living Environment
Sober living houses (SLHs), also called sober homes and sober living environments, are facilities that provide safe housing and supportive, structured living conditions for people exiting drug rehabilitation programs. SLHs serve as a transitional environment between such programs and mainstream society. Many SLHs also accept people who are in recovery from substance use disorders but have not recently completed a rehabilitation program. Description Sober living houses (SLHs) are "alcohol- and drug-free living environments for individuals attempting to maintain abstinence from alcohol and drugs". They are typically structured around 12-step programs or other recovery methodologies. Residents are often required to take drug tests and demonstrate efforts toward long-term recovery.
