Ken Scattergood
Kenneth Scattergood (6 April 1912 – 1988) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Bristol City, Derby County and Stoke City. Career Scattergood was born in Bradford and began his career with Sheffield Wednesday where he failed to make an appearance. He moved on to Wolverhampton Wanderers and again failed to get a game and so joined Bristol City. He missed just two matches for the "Robins" during the 1933–34 season and earned a move to First Division Stoke City. At Stoke he was second choice to Norman Lewis and as a result only managed to make four appearances during the 1934–35 season and left for Derby County where he finished his career. Bradford
Bradford is a city and the administrative centre of the City of Bradford district in West Yorkshire, England. The city is in the Pennines' eastern foothills on the banks of the Bradford Beck. The 1935–36 season was the 61st season of competitive football (soccer), football in England. Sunderland A.F.C., Sunderland won the league, and in doing so they remain the last team to win the English League while wearing striped jerseys. They also equalled the record of six titles won by Aston Villa F.C., Aston Villa. It remains the most recent season that Sunderland would win the title. Football League Third Division South
The Third Division South of The Football League was a tier in the English football league system from 1921 to 1958. It ran in parallel with the Third Division North with clubs elected to the League or relegated from Division Two allocated to one or the other according to geographical position. Some clubs in the English Midlands shuttled between the Third Division South and the Third Division North according to the composition of the two leagues in any one season. This division was created in 1921 from the Third Division, formed one year earlier when the Football League absorbed the leading clubs from the Southern League. In 1921, a Northern section was also created called the Third Division North. Ernald Scattergood
Ernald Oak Scattergood (29 May 1887 – 2 July 1932) was an English professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper in the Football League for Bradford Park Avenue and Derby County. He won one cap for England in 1913. Personal life As of 1901, Scattergood was working as a colliery trammer. He married in 1910 and had two children, one of whom, Ken, also become a goalkeeper. Scattergood served as a gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery during the First World War. Norman Lewis (footballer)
Arthur Norman Lewis (13 June 1908 – 1972) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Bradford Park Avenue, Tranmere Rovers, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Stoke City. Career Lewis was born in Wolverhampton and played for his works team Sunbeam Motors before being signed by Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1928 at the age of 20. He played 30 times for Wolves in 1928–29 before signing for Stoke City. Lewis spent six years at the "Potters" making 169 appearances for the club. He was signed by Stoke in 1929 as cover for Dick Williams. He took over from Williams in 1930–31 playing in 39 matches. Lewis then played 46 times in 1931–32 but then suffered injury and missed the whole 1932–33 season as Stoke gained promotion. He played regularly for the next three seasons but lost his place to Norman Wilkinson in 1936. In many team sports which involve scoring goals, the goalkeeper (sometimes termed goaltender, netminder, GK, goalie or keeper) is a designated player charged with directly preventing the opposing team from scoring by blocking or intercepting opposing shots on goal. Such positions exist in bandy, rink bandy, camogie, association football, Gaelic football, international rules football, floorball, handball, hurling, field hockey, ice hockey, roller hockey, lacrosse, ringette, rinkball, water polo, and shinty as well as in other sports. In most sports which involve scoring in a net, special rules apply to the goalkeeper that do not apply to other players.
