Ken Rose (American Football)
Kenneth Frank Rose (born June 9, 1961) is a former professional American football linebacker in the National Football League for the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and the Philadelphia Eagles. Rose graduated from Christian Brothers High School (Sacramento, California). He attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and played alongside Randall Cunningham, among others. Professional football Rose caught on with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Following two seasons there, he played a season with the Tampa Bay Bandits of the United States Football League (USFL). Rose was interested in playing for the NFL and attended several training camps in the mid-1980s. Ken Rose joined the New York Jets in 1987 during the strike by the players union and was one of the few players who stayed on the roster. Rose remained with the Jets through 1989. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). How a linebacker plays their position depends on the defensive alignment, the philosophy of the coaching staff, and the particular play the offense may call. Bud Carson
Leon H. "Bud" Carson (April 28, 1930 – December 7, 2005) was an American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 1967 to 1971, compiling a record of 27–27. Carson then coached in the National Football League (NFL), mostly as a defensive coordinator. He was a member of two Super Bowl-winning teams with the Pittsburgh Steelers and one losing team with the LA Rams in the 1970s. Carson served as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 1989 until he was fired midway through the 1990 season. He is credited with developing the Steel Curtain.
