Ken Lee (linebacker)
Kenneth Alan Lee (born September 3, 1948) is a former American football linebacker who played two seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills, one season for in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Toronto Argonauts, and two final seasons for the Southern California Sun of the World Football League (WFL). He played college football at the University of Washington and was drafted in the second round of the 1971 NFL Draft. Early years Lee was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended Oak Harbor High School in Oak Harbor, Washington. In high school, Lee was an all-conference tight end in football (1965), all-conference pitcher in baseball (1965, 1966), and Athlete of the Year (1966). In baseball, he had a 23–4 career record with 15 complete games, with a senior season of 11–2 and a 0.40 ERA. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). 1971 NFL Draft
The 1971 National Football League draft was held January 28–29, 1971, at the Belmont Plaza Hotel in New York City, New York. The Boston Patriots, who did not officially change their name to New England Patriots until after the draft, used the first overall pick of the draft to select quarterback Jim Plunkett. It was the first draft where the three first selections, Plunkett, Archie Manning, and Dan Pastorini, were quarterbacks. 1972 Buffalo Bills Season
The 1972 Buffalo Bills season was the franchise's 3rd season in the National Football League, and the 13th overall. It was also their last season at War Memorial Stadium which had been their home field since the franchise started in 1960. Season summary The 1972 season also marked the return of former Bills coach Lou Saban, who had previously led the team to two AFL Championships. Saban had a new offensive philosophy for Buffalo in 1972: in his first three seasons, former number one overall pick O. J. Simpson had only carried the ball an average of 161 times per season. The 1971 NFL season, 1971 Detroit Lions season was their 42nd in the National Football League, league. The team failed to improve on their 1970 Detroit Lions season, previous season's output of 10–4, winning only seven games. Mired in adversity, the 1971 season turned especially tragic for the Lions and the NFL when, during their week 6 hosting of the Chicago Bears, Lions wide receiver Chuck Hughes collapsed on the playing field. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. History Early formations, with six- and seven-man line defense, seven-man lines, used the end as a containment player, whose job was first to prevent an "end run" around his position, then secondarily to force plays inside. Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding.
