Ken (album)
''Ken'' (stylized in Letter case#Case styles, all lowercase) is the eleventh studio album by Canadian indie rock band Destroyer (band), Destroyer, released on October 20, 2017 by Merge Records. Band Leader Dan Bejar began writing ''ken'' while on tour in Washington State. Many of the songs and sounds of the album were aesthetic callbacks to Bejar's teenage years in the mid 1980's, with loose ties to Thatcherism, Thatcher era politics. Background Band leader Dan Bejar "lifted" the name ''ken'' from an early version of the song "The Wild Ones (song), The Wild Ones" by Suede (band), Suede. Despite sharing a title, Bejar claims that he "was not thinking about Suede when making this record" and that it was " unclear to me what that purpose is, or what the connection is". Unlike previous records, ''Poison Season'' and ''Kaputt (album), Kaputt'', Bejar composed most of the songs on guitar rather than on a computer. The majority of the songs on ''ken'' were written and debuted live while ...

Sansukumi-ken
Sansukumi-ken (三すくみ拳) is a category of East Asian hand games played by using three hand gestures. Ken games went into a period of decline in Japan after World War II. One of the few surviving sansukumi-ken games is jan-ken, which was brought to the West in the 20th century as rock paper scissors. History East Asia has a long history of hand games, which are known as ''ken'' games in Japan. ''Ken'' was brought to Japan in the 17th century as a Chinese drinking game. Aside from drinking, ken games were also popular in brothels as a form of foreplay. The earliest Japanese ken games are called ''Nagasaki-ken'' or ''Kiyo-ken'' because of the belief that ken games were first popularized by the Chinese community in Nagasaki. ''Kensarae sumai zue'', an 1809 handbook for ken games, contains a speech read by ''ken'' tournament referees that summarizes the history of ''ken''. The speech chronicles ''ken'' as a game played by the emperors of ancient China during drinking parties. I ...

Prefectures Of Japan
Japan is divided into 47 prefectures (, ''todōfuken'', ), which rank immediately below the national government and form the country's first level of jurisdiction and administrative division. They include 43 prefectures proper (, ''ken''), two urban prefectures (, '' fu'': Osaka and Kyoto), one " circuit" or "territory" (, '' dō'': Hokkai-dō) and one metropolis (, '' to'': Tokyo). In 1868, the Meiji ''Fuhanken sanchisei'' administration created the first prefectures (urban ''fu'' and rural ''ken'') to replace the urban and rural administrators (''bugyō'', ''daikan'', etc.) in the parts of the country previously controlled directly by the shogunate and a few territories of rebels/shogunate loyalists who had not submitted to the new government such as Aizu/ Wakamatsu. In 1871, all remaining feudal domains ''( han)'' were also transformed into prefectures, so that prefectures subdivided the whole country. In several waves of territorial consolidation, today's 47 prefecture ...

Komisja Edukacji Narodowej
The Commission of National Education ( pl, Komisja Edukacji Narodowej, KEN; lt, Edukacinė komisija) was the central educational authority in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, created by the Sejm and King Stanisław II August on October 14, 1773. Because of its vast authority and autonomy, it is considered the first Ministry of Education in European history and an important achievement of the Polish Enlightenment. History Genesis The chief reason behind its creation was that in Poland and Lithuania, the Jesuits ran an extensive system of educational institutions. Although the Jesuit schools were fairly efficient and provided the Polish youth with a good education, they were also very conservative. In addition, in 1773 the Pope decided to close down the Jesuit order (Dominus ac Redemptor). This threatened a complete breakdown of education in the Commonwealth. One of the first items on the parliamentary agenda of the Partition Sejm (1773–1775), which acceded to the Fir ...

The exact value has varied over time and location but has generally been a little shorter than .JAANUS It is now standardized as 1.82 m. Although mostly supplanted by the metric system, this unit is a common measurement in Japanese architecture, where it is used as a proportion for the intervals between the pillars of traditional-style buildings. The length also appears in other contexts, such as the standard length of the '' bō'' staff in Japanese martial arts and the standard dimensions of the tatami mats.
