Kemah, Erzincan
Kemah ( ku, Kemax), known historically as Ani-Kamakh ( hy, Անի-Կամախ), Gamakh, Kamacha or Kamachon ( el, Κάμαχα, Κάμαχον) is a town and district of Erzincan Province in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. History Ancient and medieval Kemah is a town with a present population of 2141 (2010 est.). The town is located almost in the centre of Erzincan Province. In ancient times, the town was known as Ani-Kamakh, and was the cult center of the Armenian goddess Anahit (Ani). It may be what the Hittites referred to as Kummaha (if that was not just a variant of Kummuh). The necropolis of Armenia's Arsacid Dynasty was located in Kemah, including the tomb of Tiridates III who was instrumental in the conversion of the Armenian people to Christianity. During the early Middle Ages, Kemah was a strategically important border fortress in the border wars between the Byzantines and the Umayyads and Abbasids. Kemah, Texas
Kemah ( ) is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, southeast of Houston along west Galveston Bay. The city's population was 1,773 at the 2010 census, down from 2,330 at the 2000 census. Located in Galveston County, Kemah's main industry is shipping. Originally a small fishing town, the city has become a tourist destination for the area's restaurants and attractions, which are contained within the Kemah Entertainment District. In 2012 Kemah was ranked the top tourism spot in the Greater Houston area. Geography Kemah is located in the northeast corner of Galveston County at (29.5425, –95.0203) and is part of the Clear Lake Area. It is bordered to the west and south by League City, to the northwest by Clear Lake Shores, to the southeast by unincorporated Bacliff, and at its northern end by Seabrook across the Clear Creek Channel in Harris County. USS Kemah
USS ''Kemah'' (SP-415) was a United States Navy patrol vessel in commission from 1918 to 1919. ''Kemah'' was laid down as a private motor yacht of the same name in 1917 by the Luders Marine Construction Company at Stamford, Connecticut. While she was still under construction, the U.S. Navy acquired her from her owner, F. E. Lewis II of New York City, on 7 October 1917 for use as a section patrol vessel during World War I. She was completed in 1918, brought to the New York Navy Yard in April 1918, and commissioned there as USS ''Kemah'' (SP-415) on 16 July 1918. Initially assigned to the 6th Naval District, ''Kemah'' was reassigned to the 3rd Naval District at New York City upon commissioning. Restricted to protected waters, ''Kemah'' served as a guard ship in New York Harbors coastal waters until she was removed from active service on 3 September 1919.
