Kelvin Davis (basketball)
Kelvin Davis (born July 12, 1959) is an American former professional basketball player. He became the oldest rookie to play in the American Basketball Association, when he debuted at age 47 during the 2006–07 season for the Atlanta Vision. Early life Davis was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, on July 12, 1959, to parents Matthew and Verba Davis. In 1961, his family moved to Evergreen, Alabama, where he played football, basketball and baseball, and ran track. In basketball, Kelvin averaged 21 points per game. Kelvin made the all state Team and was the most valuable player in Conecuh County, Alabama. After graduating from high school Davis was offered a basketball scholarship to Jefferson Davis Jr. College in Brewton, Alabama. Kelvin Davis (born May 26, 1978) is an American boxer. He is a former IBF cruiserweight champion. Known as "Concrete", Davis, a compact pressure fighter, turned pro in 1999. He was undefeated in his first 20 fights, including a draw with veteran David Vedder (record 21-19-3) in 2001 and a points win over 37-year-old Ex IBF-titleholder Arthur Williams. He lost for the first time to little-known Ravea Springs (24-2). In 2003 he got an IBF-eliminator fight against O'Neil Bell, who knocked him out. Unimpressed by these losses the IBF put him in another eliminator with another Don King-fighter in Louis Azille. He won the fight by close decision. In 2004 he won the vacant IBF title against hard-punching but chinny southpaw Ezra Sellars but never defended it. Kelvin Geoffrey Davis (born 29 September 1976) is an English former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He began his career with Luton Town as a youth player in 1991 and remained there until 1999. Davis later played for Wimbledon, Ipswich Town and Sunderland before moving to Southampton in 2006. Davis was team captain of Southampton from 2009 to 2012, after which he became club captain. From July 2016 to December 2017, Davis had been working as part of the support staff at Southampton. On 29 December 2017, Davis became Senior First Team coach following the resignation of Eric Black the previous week until parting ways with Southampton in 2022. Kelvin Glen Davis (born 2 March 1967) is a New Zealand politician and a member of the House of Representatives who has served as Deputy Leader of the Labour Party since 1 August 2017. A former teacher, Davis served as a list MP from 2008 to 2011 and again in 2014. He won the electorate of Te Tai Tokerau in the 2014 election. Davis was elected as Labour Deputy Leader two months before the 2017 election, becoming the first deputy of Māori descent in the Labour Party. Currently, the third-ranked member of the Sixth Labour Government, Davis serves as the Minister of Corrections, Minister of Tourism and Minister for Māori Crown Relations, in addition to an Associate Minister of Education portfolio (Māori Education).
