Kelsey Wog
Kelsey Lauren Wog (born September 19, 1998) is a Canadian breaststroke swimmer. She won a silver medal in the 200 m breaststroke at the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m). At the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Maui, Wog captured two individual medals. She earned silver in the 200-m breaststroke and bronze in the 100 m breaststroke. She also contributed to a silver medal in the 4×100-m medley relay with teammates Danielle Hanus, Rebecca Smith and Sarah Darcel. She is a resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and is currently a member of the Toronto Titans for the International Swimming League. She was named to the Canadian team for the 2020 Summer Olympics, where she placed twenty-third in the heats of the 100 m breaststroke and was disqualified from the 200 m breaststroke. The women's 100 metre breaststroke event at the 2020 Summer Olympics was held from 25 July to 27 July 2021 at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. Canada competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the nation's debut in 1900, Canadian athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games, with the exception of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow because of the country's support for United States-led boycott. Before the official postponement, the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee initially announced their intention not to send teams to both the Olympics and Paralympics. International Swimming League
The International Swimming League (ISL) is an annual professional swimming league, established in 2019. It features a team-based competition format with fast-paced race sessions. In 2019, the regular season started in October and the Final Match was held in December. Athletes with a history of breaking anti-doping rules are banned from ISL. In March 2022, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the ISL abruptly cancelled its fourth season and all competition in 2022. Rebecca Smith (born 14 March 2000) is a Canadian swimmer. She competed in the women's 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay event at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. Career At the 2017 World Championships in Budapest Smith was part of the bronze medal-winning team in the 4 × 100 m mixed medley. Later in 2017 Smith was also part of the gold medal 4 × 200 m freestyle 2017 World Junior Swimming Championships team in Indianapolis. In the process the team broke the junior world record and championship record. In September 2017, Smith was named to Canada's 2018 Commonwealth Games team. Danielle Franci Hanus (born March 16, 1998) is a Canadian swimmer who competes in the women's freestyle, backstroke, and individual medley competitions. Career She represented Canada at the finished 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, finishing 4th at the 50-metre backstroke, 7th at the 100-metre backstroke, 7th at the 200-metre backstroke and 13th at the 100-metre butterfly. Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. A medley relay consists of four swimmers who will each swim a different stroke, ordered as backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle.
