Kelly Burke
Kelly Burke (born December 31, 1944) is an American former model who was ''Playboy'' magazine's Playmate of the Month for its June 1966 issue. Her centerfold was photographed by William Figge. Burke was born in Los Angeles, California. According to ''The Playmate Book'', Burke was pregnant while she was shooting her Playmate centerfold. She also was (at the time) the sister-in-law of 1965 Playmate of the Year Allison Parks. Dolly Martin (born Dolly Read on 13 September 1944 in Bristol, England) is an English pinup model and actress. She is best remembered for her appearance in ''Playboy'' magazine and as the lead character in ''Beyond the Valley of the Dolls''. A Playmate is a female model featured in the centerfold/gatefold of ''Playboy'' magazine as Playmate of the Month (PMOTM). The PMOTM's pictorial includes nude photographs and a centerfold poster, along with a pictorial biography and the "Playmate Data Sheet", which lists her birthdate, measurements, turn-ons, and turn-offs. At the end of the year, one of the 12 Playmates of the Month is named Playmate of the Year (PMOTY). Every Playmate of the Month is awarded a prize of US$25,000 and each Playmate of the Year receives an additional prize of US$100,000 plus a car (specifically, a short-term lease of a car) and other discretionary gifts. In addition, Anniversary Playmates are usually chosen to celebrate a milestone year of the magazine. Centerfold
The centerfold or centrefold of a magazine is the inner pages of the middle sheet, usually containing a portrait, such as a pin-up or a nude. The term can also refer to the model featured in the portrait. In saddle-stitched magazines (as opposed to those that are perfect-bound), the centerfold does not have any blank space cutting through the image. The term was coined by Hugh Hefner, founder of ''Playboy'' magazine. The success of the 1953 first issue of ''Playboy'' has been attributed in large part to its centerfold: a nude of Marilyn Monroe. The advent of monthly centerfolds gave the pin-up a new respectability, and helped to sanitize the notion of "sexiness". Being featured as a centerfold could lead to film roles for models, and still occasionally does today. William Figge
William Vassar Figge (March 25, 1919 – May 1976) was an American photographer who, along with his wife Melba, ran a photography studio in Glendale, California. Biography Figge was a combat photographer in World War II. After the war, he failed to find work as a cinematographer, so he stayed with photography and specialised in portraiture, shooting weddings and contributing to ''Playboy'' magazine. Notably, he discovered many Playmates at weddings. Bill Figge, as he is sometimes called, shot 48 gatefolds and 3 covers. The couple ceased contributing to Playboy when the magazine became more risqué in the 1980s. Bill and Melba had three sons, (Greg, Stephan and Eric,) and one daughter (Leslie). Greg and Leslie run the studio that their parents began, Figge Studios. Eric, the only child to have formal education in photography, photographs architecture professionally. Allison Parks (born Gloria Waldron; October 18, 1941 – June 21, 2010) was an American model and actress. She was chosen as ''Playboy'' magazine's Playmate of the Month in October 1965, and Playmate of the Year for 1966, appearing as the cover model and in a pictorial in the May issue. She was also in a Playboy Mansion pictorial in the January 1966 issue of ''Playboy'', along with Ashlyn Martin. Her original pictorial was photographed by William Figge. Career "Allison Parks" was a pseudonym she used when modelling for ''Playboy''. She told ''The Playmate Book'' that she liked it so much, she kept it as her professional name. She was a mother at the time of her centerfold, and her kids were featured in a photo in her layout, but they were identified as swimming school students.
