Kelly (film)
''Kelly'' is a 1981 Canadian made family adventure drama directed by Christopher Chapman and written by and starring Robert Logan. Twyla Dawn Vokins plays the title character ''Kelly''. In the 1980s the film had much play on cable tv(HBO) and was of the heartwarming type of product usually found on the commercial ABC Afterschool Special. Story Kelly, a preteen girl, lives in the United States(?New Jersey) with her divorced mother and stepfather. She is somewhat errant, skips school, and doesn't have too good a relationship with her mother Susan. Susan, fed up and seeking a solution to Kelly's behavior decides to pack Kelly off to her biological father, Dave, who is a bush pilot in Alaska. When Kelly arrives in Alaska she exhibits some of the same behavior she had with her mother but slowly over time becomes ingratiated with her wilderness surroundings and neighbors. Christopher Chapman
Christopher Chapman (January 24, 1927 – October 24, 2015) was a Canadian film writer, director, editor and cinematographer. Best known for his award-winning 1967 short film '' A Place to Stand'', he also pioneered the multi-dynamic image technique used in films and television shows. Personal life Chapman was born in Toronto, shortly after midnight on January 24, 1927, and just minutes after his twin brother Francis. Christopher and his twin had four elder siblings, Philippa, Howard, Robert, and Sally. Another brother, Julian, died in infancy. They were children of distinguished architect Alfred Hirschfelder Chapman (of Chapman and Oxley) and concert pianist Doris Chapman. In the 1950s, Christopher spent a year in England designing cars for the Ford Motor Company before returning to Canada and becoming a filmmaker. George Clutesi
George Clutesi, (1905 – 27 February 1988), was a Tseshaht artist, actor and writer, as well as an expert on and ambassador for all Canadian First Nations culture. Biography Clutesi was born in Port Alberni, British Columbia in 1905. He was raised in his mother's home village in the Broken Group after her death when he was four. His father and aunts recognized his abilities at an early age and encouraged him to develop his talents. He sought refuge in his art from the pressures brought to bear on him at the Alberni Residential School. At the school, Indigenous children were driven to forget their heritage and culture in an effort to force them to assimilate into white settler culture.
