Matlala Keletso Makgalwa (born 3 January 1997) is a South African soccer player who plays as a midfielder for South African Premier Division club Mamelodi Sundowns. Mokopane
Mokopane, also known as Potgietersrus, is a town in the Limpopo province of South Africa. The town name was changed to Mokopane in 2003 in honour of a local Ma Nrebele leader, King Mghombane Gheghana , who ruled the area before being conquered by the Voortrekkers. Mokopane is the Northern Sotho form of the king’s name, and is hence erroneous, even though the majority language in the area is Northern Sotho. Five kingdoms in the vicinity of the town are Kekana (Moshate), Langa (Mapela), Lebelo (Garasvlei) and Langa (Bakenburg). It is still referred to as Potgietersrus or “Potties”. Two hours from Gauteng by road, the town acts as a getaway destination and as a stop-over for travelers ''en route'' to Botswana, Zimbabwe and Kruger National Park. The 2017–18 South African Premier Division season (known as the ABSA Premiership for sponsorship reasons) is the 22nd season of the Premier Soccer League since its conception in 1996. Bidvest Wits were the defending champions, having won the previous 2016–17 South African Premier Division (PSL) season. The season featured 15 teams from the 2016–17 season and one new team from the 2016–17 National First Division: AmaZulu replaced relegated Highlands Park. The Telkom Knockout was a South African professional football knockout competition which comprised the 16 teams in the South African Premier Soccer League. The competition was established in 1982 and was first known as the Datsun Challenge. Under the new NSL regime in 1984, it became known as the ''JPS Knockout Cup''. It used this name until 1992 when it became known as the ''Coca-Cola Cup''. It was sponsored by the drinks manufacturer until 1996, when it was replaced by the ''Rothmans Cup'' which was changed back to the ''Coca-Cola Cup'' in 2001 due to the new rules regarding tobacco sponsorship in sport. Telkom became the new sponsors in 2006. In all matches there had to be a winner on the day, this will be decided if there is a winner after full-time (90 minutes). The Nedbank Cup is the current name of South Africa's Premier Soccer League, premier club association football, soccer knockout tournament. While many formats have been used over the years, the tournament has always been based on the idea of giving lower league and amateur teams a chance to compete with clubs from the top league for the cup. The tournament is based on the English FA Cup, which has become known for "giant killings" (lower league clubs defeating a top-flight club). History The tournament was started in 1971 as the Life Challenge Cup, this name stayed in place until 1975. In 1976 and 1977, the tournament was known as the Benson and Hedges Trophy. 2019–20 South African Premier Division
The 2019–20 South African Premier Division season (known as the ABSA Premiership for sponsorship reasons) was the 24th season of the Premier Soccer League since its establishment in 1996. The season began in August 2019 and concluded in September 2020. Mamelodi Sundowns were the two-time defending champions. This season's winner will qualify for the 2020–21 CAF Champions League along with the second-placed team. The 3rd placed team and Nedbank Cup winners qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup. The season was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It resumed on 11 August 2020 after more than three months of suspension. Mamelodi Sundowns won the title in the last day of the competition, they beat Kaizer Chiefs who were leading for more than half of the season. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders.
