Keith R. Wheeler
Keith R. Wheeler is a Republican politician and former member of the Illinois House of Representatives. He represented the 50th District from 2015 to 2023. The 50th district included municipalities in southern Kane and Kendall counties. After new legislative maps were drawn to fit the results of the 2020 census, Wheeler opted to seek a fifth term in the House in the new 83rd District. Matt Hanson is a railroad engineer and Democratic politician serving as an Illinois state representative for District 83. Elected in 2022 he defeated Republican Keith Wheeler. The District includes parts of St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, North Aurora, Aurora, Montgomery, and Oswego. Hanson earned a B.S. in business administration from the University of Richmond and worked as an engineer with BNSF Railway. He was elected to the Kane County Board from District 6 in 2018, and but lost re-election to the seat in 2020. The State Board of Elections (SBE) is an independent agency of the U.S. state of Illinois. The SBE, as an acronym, refers both to the eight-member bipartisan board of directors and to the agency that it oversees. The members of the SBE, who are appointed by the Governor of Illinois, in turn appoint an executive director who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the agency. The United States census of 2020 was the twenty-fourth decennial United States census. Census Day, the reference day used for the census, was April 1, 2020. Other than a pilot study during the 2000 census, this was the first U.S. census to offer options to respond online or by phone, in addition to the paper response form used for previous censuses.
