Keith Newell (cricketer)
Keith Newell (born 25 March 1972) is an English cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. Born in Crawley, he played First-class and List-A cricket from 1995 to 2005, playing for Sussex, Matabeleland and Glamorgan. Though in his first four years with the Sussex side, he was only to pick up appearances for the Second XI, he would make his debut for the full side in September 1994, where he would bat defiantly but eventually be bowled leg before wicket, ending his chances of success in the match. During the next season, he would feature heavily in Sussex's plans, before playing twice for Matabeleland in 1995, including once in the Logan Cup in which his team would finish runners-up. He would play in seven Benson and Hedges Cup tournaments for both Sussex and Glamorgan, in the Mid-Wales (West) group. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Crawley
Crawley () is a large town and borough in West Sussex, England. It is south of London, north of Brighton and Hove, and north-east of the county town of Chichester. Sussex County Cricket Club
Sussex County Cricket Club is the oldest of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Sussex. Its limited overs team is called the Sussex Sharks. Glamorgan County Cricket Club
Glamorgan County Cricket Club ( cy, Criced Morgannwg) is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Glamorgan ( cy, Morgannwg). Founded in 1888, Glamorgan held minor status at first and was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship before the First World War. In 1921, the club joined the County Championship and the team was elevated to first-class status, subsequently playing in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England and Wales.
