Keith Fergus
Keith Carlton Fergus (born March 3, 1954) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour, the Nationwide Tour and the Champions Tour. Fergus was born in Temple, Texas. He started playing golf at age 8. In high school, he played football and basketball but enjoyed practicing golf more than the other sports. He attended and was a member of the golf team at the University of Houston, where he was a 3-time All American and runner-up to Jay Haas at the 1975 NCAA Championship. He turned pro in 1976. Fergus had his best years on the PGA Tour in the early 1980s. During his PGA career, he had over 40 top-10 finishes and won three events. His best finish in a major was a T-3 at the 1980 U.S. Open; he also had a T-4 at the 1981 PGA Championship. He began using the long putter in 1988. Rex Caldwell
Rex Allen Caldwell (born May 5, 1950) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour and Champions Tour. Caldwell was born in Everett, Washington. He attended San Fernando Valley State College. He turned professional in 1972. Caldwell played on the PGA Tour from 1972 to 1990. His best year in professional golf was 1983 when he teamed with John Cook to win at the World Cup. He also had six top-10 finishes that year in PGA Tour events which included a win at the LaJet Coors Classic and four solo 2nd or T-2 finishes. Bob Hope Desert Classic
The Desert Classic (currently known as The American Express for sponsorship reasons; previously known as the CareerBuilder Challenge, Palm Springs Golf Classic, the Bob Hope Desert Classic, the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, and the Humana Challenge) is a professional golf tournament in southern California on the PGA Tour. Played in mid-winter in the Coachella Valley (greater Palm Springs), it is part of the tour's early season "West Coast Swing." It previously had five rounds of competition (90 holes) rather than the standard of four rounds, and was known for its celebrity pro-am. For many years, the event was named for and hosted by entertainer Bob Hope and featured a number of celebrity participants. In 2012, the Desert Classic changed to a traditional 72-hole format over three different courses with a 54-hole cut, similar to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Raymond Floyd
Raymond Loran Floyd (born September 4, 1942) is an American retired golfer who has won numerous tournaments on both the PGA Tour and Senior PGA Tour, including four majors and four senior majors. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1989. Early years Floyd was born on September 4, 1942, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and was raised in Fayetteville. Floyd's father L.B. had a 21-year career in the U.S. Army, much of it at Fort Bragg as the golf pro at its enlisted-men's course. He also owned a nearby driving range where Raymond and younger sister Marlene, a future LPGA Tour pro, honed their games. Georgia-Pacific Atlanta Golf Classic
The Atlanta Classic was a golf tournament on the PGA Tour, a regular stop in suburban Atlanta for over four decades. It was founded in 1967, although previous events dating to 1934 are included in the PGA Tour's past winners list. AT&T was the last title sponsor of the tournament. From 1967 to 1996, it was played at the Atlanta Country Club in Marietta, northwest of Atlanta. From 1997 to 2008, it was played over the Stables and Meadows nines at TPC at Sugarloaf in Duluth, northeast of Atlanta. For most of its years, the Atlanta tournament was usually held in May. Jack Renner (golfer)
Jack Renner (born July 6, 1956) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour from 1977–1988, and on the Champions Tour from 2006–2007. Renner was born in Palm Springs, California. While in high school at the age of 17, he won the U.S. Junior Amateur. He attended the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California. He turned pro in 1976 and joined the PGA Tour in 1977. Renner had three PGA Tour event wins during that phase of his career. His first win was at the 1979 Manufacturers Hanover Westchester Classic. In 1981, he earned his second Tour victory at the Pleasant Valley Jimmy Fund Classic. His last win came at the 1984 Hawaiian Open. The Memorial Tournament is a PGA Tour golf tournament founded in 1976 by Jack Nicklaus. It is played on a Nicklaus-designed course at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, a suburb north of Columbus.
