Keith Carmody (hurler)
Keith Carmody is an Irish hurler who plays as a left-wing-back for the Kerry senior team. Born in Causeway, County Kerry, Carmody first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Causeway Comprehensive School. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Kerry minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 2014 league. Carmody quickly became a regular member of the starting fifteen and has won one Christy Ring Cup medal, at the end of the year he picked up a Christy Ring All-Star and Christy Ring Player of the Year for 2015 He was part of the Under 21 Hurling/Shinty International team in 2015. He also captained Ireland to victory in the Under 21 Hurling/Shinty International in 2016. At the club level, Carmody plays with Causeway. Kerry Senior Hurling Championship
The Kerry Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as Garvey's SuperValu Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Kerry County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1889 for the top hurling teams in the county of Kerry in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer months, with the county final currently being played in Austin Stack Park in August. Initially played a knock-out competition, the championship currently uses a double elimination format whereby each team is guaranteed at least two games. The 2020 championship reverted to a straight knock-out format due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Kerry County Championship is an integral part of the wider Munster Intermediate Club Hurling Championship. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire, London and Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. 2015 Christy Ring Cup
The 2015 Christy Ring Cup was the eleventh staging of the Christy Ring Cup hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 2005. The cup competition began on 2 May 2015 and ended on 6 June 2014. Kildare were the defending champions, however, they were beaten in the semi-final. Kerry won the title after defeating Derry by 1-20 to 0-12 in the final. Mayo were relegated from the Christy Ring Cup after losing a play-off with Roscommon. The Kerry County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kerry GAA, is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland. It is responsible for Gaelic games in County Kerry, and for the Kerry county teams. The Kerry branch of the Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in the year 1888. The Christy Ring Cup () is an annual hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. Originally introduced as a second-tier competition, it is currently the third tier overall in the inter-county hurling championship system.
