Keiji Shigetomi
is a Japanese football manager, currently the Assistant Coach at Singapore Premier League side Albirex Niigata Singapore. Career Shigetomi was appointed manager of Albirex Niigata Singapore for the 2019 season, following spells as a coach with Oshu Soccer Club and the Sanfrecce Hiroshima Soccer School. He was also head coach at Hijiyama University between 2005 and 2006, and spent the 2018 season as academy director at Albirex Niigata Singapore, after three seasons as manager of the club's youth sector. Albirex Niigata Singapore FC, abbreviated as Albirex Niigata (S), is a Singaporean football club that plays in the Singapore Premier League. The club is a satellite team of Albirex Niigata of Japan. History Albirex Niigata Singapore, a satellite team of Japanese club Albirex Niigata, joined the S. League in 2004. It was in that year the Football Association of Singapore decided to invite foreign teams in the league in a bid to deal with poor attendance issues. For the first years of the club's participation in the league it has settled in the mid-table in the standings. The Singapore Premier League, commonly abbreviated as SPL, officially known as the AIA Singapore Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is a men's professional football league sanctioned by the Football Association of Singapore (FAS), which represents the sport's highest level in the Singapore football league system. The competition was founded as the S. League on 14 April 1996 after the FAS announced its intention to promote and expand the growing local football community by having a top level domestic league. As of 2022, the league comprises eight clubs, consisting of three rounds in which each team plays every other team once. 2018 Singapore Premier League
The 2018 Singapore Premier League (also known as the Great Eastern Hyundai Singapore Premier League due to sponsorship reasons) was the inaugural season of the Singapore Premier League, the top-flight Singaporean professional league for association football clubs. The season began on 31 March 2018, and concluded on 3 October 2018. Albirex Niigata (S) won the league and successfully defended their title. Each team will receive $888,200 if they meet key performance indicators that will be made known to them before the March 31 kick-off. The Singapore Community Shield (also known as the AIA Community Shield due to sponsorship reasons; formerly the Charity Shield) is the curtain-raiser to the football season in Singapore. The match is contested between the champions of the previous Singapore Premier League season and the Singapore Cup winners. In a situation when the same team wins both competition, then it is contested between the Singapore Premier League's champions and runners-up. The 2017 Singapore Community Shield (also known as the Great Eastern Community Shield for sponsorship reasons) was the 10th edition of the Singapore Community Shield held on 26 February 2017 at National Stadium, between the winners of the previous season's S.League and Singapore Cup competitions. The match was contested by 2016 Singapore Cup winners Albirex Niigata (S) and 2016 S.League runners-up Tampines Rovers. This was the first time whereby a Shield match was played at the new National Stadium after opening in 2014.
