The following is the discography of the hard rock band Magnum, which is headed by vocalist Bob Catley and guitarist/songwriter Tony Clarkin. Originally formed around 1972 they released their first single in 1975 (a cover of ''Sweets for My Sweet'' that did not chart) and their first album '' Kingdom of Madness'' in 1978. They continued recording and releasing albums until 1995 when they split. However, they re-formed in 2001 and have released albums every few years since. Magnum (band)
Magnum are an English hard rock band. They were formed in Birmingham by Tony Clarkin (guitar, songwriter) and Bob Catley (vocals) in order to appear as the resident band at the Rum Runner nightclub in the city. Magnum have undergone several changes in personnel over the years; however, the core of Catley and Clarkin remain. Magnum's most significant early success was '' Chase the Dragon'' in 1982, which reached number 17 in the UK Albums Chart. It included several songs that would become mainstays of the band's live set, notably "Soldier of the Line", "Sacred Hour" and "The Spirit". Chase The Dragon
''Chase the Dragon'' is the third studio album by English rock band Magnum. It was released in 1982 on Jet Records. Overseen by the Kansas producer Jeff Glixman, ''Chase the Dragon'' was the first recorded appearance by the new keyboard player Mark Stanway, although he had made his live debut at Magnum's appearance at the Reading Festival in 1980. The album was recorded over 13 days at Town House Studios in London, and the following year Tony Clarkin flew to Axis Studios in Atlanta to mix it. However, there was a two-year delay before the album's release in 1982. Many of the tracks have remained in Magnum's live set for many years, including "Soldier of the Line", "The Spirit" and "Sacred Hour". ''Breath of Life'' is the 12th studio album by English rock band Magnum. It was released in 2002 by SPV. ''Breath of Life'' is Magnum's comeback album after a break of more than six years. The album marks the return of Bob Catley (vocalist), Tony Clarkin (guitarist) and Mark Stanway (keyboards). Clarkin produced the album during summer 2001 at the Mad Hat Studios in Wolverhampton. Clarkin says, "The break since the middle of the Nineties was definitely necessary for me. Electrola is a German record label and subsidiary of Universal Music Group. Based in Munich, its roster has included Chumbawamba, Matthias Reim, Helene Fischer, Brings, Höhner and Santiano. History On 8 May 1925 the British Gramophone Company founded Electrola GmbH in Nowawes near Berlin and received its record licence in December. In March 1931, through its parent company's merger with Lindström's parent Columbia Gramophone Company to form EMI, Electrola thus became the merged entity's German subsidiary. Around 300 publications per month allowed Electrola's general catalogue to grow to 11,000 titles by 1934. Rock Art (album)
''Rock Art'' is the 11th studio album by the English rock band Magnum and was released in 1994 by EMI. It was the last album released by the band's first incarnation. The album got its name because Tony Clarkin watched a documentary about cave paintings from the stone age. Two singles were released from the album, "The Tall Ships" and "Back In Your Arms Again". However, they were only distributed in Germany. "On Christmas Day" is a reflection on the World War I Christmas truce in December 1914, involving French, Scottish and German soldiers. The album charted 57 in the United Kingdom, the band's lowest chart position there since Magnum II. The band disbanded the next year, with Tony Clarkin and Bob Catley forming Hard Rain. Music For Nations
Music For Nations (MFN) is a British independent record label focusing mainly on rock and metal. It was a subsidiary of the larger label distributor Zomba Records, which was a division of BMG and later Sony Music Entertainment. Launched in 1983 by Martin Hooker, Music For Nations established itself as a European leader in the rock and metal world, with early signings like Tank, Exciter, Metallica (who had three gold albums while on MFN), Slayer and Megadeth paving the way. As MFN grew, the company expanded its operation to include not just licensed acts from the United States, but its own signings. It released albums by artists including Paradise Lost, Opeth, Anathema, Cradle of Filth, Testament and countless other metal bands. Sleepwalking (Magnum Album)
''Sleepwalking'' is the ninth studio album by the English rock band Magnum, released in 1992. Following the decision to leave Polydor, ''Sleepwalking'' was recorded within six months, and is the first self-produced album by Magnum since '' The Eleventh Hour''. Tony Clarkin was much happier acting as producer, following his working relationship with Keith Olsen on ''Goodnight L.A.''. Learning from Olsen, Clarkin had enough experience to produce Magnum's records on his own, this also being the best option to cut production costs for future albums. ''Wings of Heaven'' is the seventh studio album by the English rock band Magnum, released in 1988. The original choice of producers for ''Wings of Heaven'' was Roger Taylor and Dave Richards, who had produced ''Vigilante''. This was not realised because of conflicting schedules. Albert Boekholt was suggested at Wisseloord Studios, the Netherlands. The album was mixed at Sarm West Studios in London in January 1988. One song was announced, "That's How The Blues Must Start", but was dropped from the album. ''Wings of Heaven'' was their first studio album to gain both critical and commercial success and the first to achieve a top 10 placing, which it did in Sweden #2, the UK #5, Switzerland #7 and Norway #8. It also made the Top 20 in Germany hitting #19. The album is certified Silver in the United Kingdom, meaning it has shipped over 60,000 copies. ''Vigilante'' is the sixth studio album by the English rock band Magnum, released in 1986 on Polydor. Capitalising on the success of ''On a Storyteller's Night'', Magnum changed to a more commercial direction with ''Vigilante''. Produced by David Richards and Queen drummer Roger Taylor, the band's sound stepped towards that of 1980s Queen, with keyboards much higher in the mix than guitar. The album was recorded at Queen's famous Mountain Studios in Montreux.
