Keep The Light Alive
''Keep The Light Alive: Celebrating The Music of Lowen & Navarro'' is a tribute album celebrating the 20-year musical career of Lowen & Navarro and raising awareness and funds for research into amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The proceeds benefit the Eric Lowen Trust, ALS Association Greater Los Angeles and Augie's Quest. On March 17, 2004, David Eric Lowen was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Because of compromises to Eric's playing and singing, Lowen & Navarro held their final show on June 6, 2009, in Alexandria, Virginia, at The Birchmere. Lowen died from ALS on March 23, 2012. Dan Navarro continues to tour as a solo performer. Tribute Album
An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as digital distribution. Albums of recorded sound were developed in the early 20th century as individual 78 rpm records collected in a bound book resembling a photograph album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl long-playing (LP) records played at rpm. The album was the dominant form of recorded music expression and consumption from the mid-1960s to the early 21st century, a period known as the album era. Keb' Mo'
Kevin Roosevelt Moore (born October 3, 1951), known as Keb' Mo', is an American blues musician and five-time Grammy Award winner. He is a singer, guitarist, and songwriter, living in Nashville, Tennessee. He has been described as "a living link to the seminal Delta blues that travelled up the Mississippi River and across the expanse of America." His post-modern blues style is influenced by many eras and genres, including folk, rock, jazz, pop and country. The moniker "Keb Mo" was coined by his original drummer, Quentin Dennard, and picked up by his record label as a "street talk" abbreviation of his given name. Daniel Friedberg, better known by the stage name Freebo, is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and producer noted primarily for his work with Bonnie Raitt. He is also a session musician who has recorded and performed with Ringo Starr, John Mayall, John Hall (New York), John Hall, Aaron Neville, Dr. John, Willy DeVille, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Maria Muldaur, Kate & Anna McGarrigle and many others. His nine-year collaboration with Raitt (1971-1979) began when he attracted Raitt's attention as a member of Philadelphia's Edison Electric Band in the late 1960s. The Refugees are an American folk trio composed of three members: Wendy Waldman, Cidny Bullens, and Deborah Holland. Joel Rafael is an American singer-songwriter and folk musician from San Diego County, California. Rafael's second volume to celebrate the songs of Woody Guthrie, was released on Appleseed in 2005. The first volume, ''Woodeye'', was released on Inside Recordings in 2003. Joel and his acoustic band have been performing and touring nationally since 1993. AIX Records is an independent record label specializing in the production of high-resolution audio. It was founded in 2001 by Mark Waldrep, a recording and mastering engineer with over 40 years of experience in the recording industry. AIX was founded to take advantage of the DVD-Audio format. In 2007, the company started iTrax.com, a retail site for buying and downloading high resolution music files. Approach to recording AIX Records has not released any CDs.
