Keep The Circle
''Keep the Circle: B-sides and Udder Stuff'' is a compilation of b-sides from Oldham-based band Inspiral Carpets, released in February 2007 to coincide with their short tour of the UK. The album is only available as a digital download from iTunes and other download services. It contains a previously unheard version of "Saturn 5" with guest vocals by Mark E. Smith of The Fall. Also included is an hour-long interview with the group discussing most of the songs. Some of these songs were released on ''Rare As'', the second disc of the ''Cool As'' collection in 2003. Inspiral Carpets
Inspiral Carpets are an English rock band, part of the late-1980s/early-1990s Madchester movement. Formed in Oldham in 1980, the band's most successful lineup featured frontman Tom Hingley, drummer Craig Gill, guitarist Graham Lambert, bassist Martyn Walsh and keyboardist Clint Boon. Several line-ups were loosely used from 1980 until Lambert and singer Stephen Holt met at The Moor End indie disco in Oldham 1983. Holt sang on the first two independent singles. Holt departed the band before they signed with Mute Records,Thompson, Dave (2000) ''Alternative Rock'', Miller Freeman, , p.425-427 Inspiral Carpets was known for using organs and distorted guitars with influences from psychedelic rock. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. ''Inspiral Carpets'' is the fifth studio album by the British indie rock band Inspiral Carpets, of the same name, released on 20 October 2014. The album is their first in 20 years; and the first full-length album in the band's history to feature founding vocalist Stephen Holt, who replaced Tom Hingley following Hingley's departure from the band. It is also the band's final album with drummer Craig Gill, before his death in 2016. It was announced in January 2014 on the official Inspiral Carpets web site. The track list was revealed in their July 2014 email newsletter. Despite initial announcements saying that both their non-album singles with Holt would be included, only "You're So Good for Me" made the final cut. The Fall (band)
The Fall were an English post-punk group, formed in 1976 in Prestwich, Greater Manchester. They underwent many line-up changes, with vocalist and founder Mark E. Smith as the only constant member. The Fall's long-term musicians included drummers Paul Hanley, Simon Wolstencroft and Karl Burns; guitarists Marc Riley, Craig Scanlon and Brix Smith; and bassist Steve Hanley, whose melodic, circular bass lines are widely credited with shaping the band's sound from early 1980s albums such as ''Hex Enduction Hour'' to the late 1990s.
