Keeneland Cup
The Keeneland Cup ( ja, キーンランドカップ, link=no) is a Grade 3 horse race for Thoroughbreds aged three and over, run in August over a distance of 1200 metres on turf at Sapporo Racecourse. It serves as a trial race for the Sprinters Stakes. The Keeneland Cup was first run in 1996 and has held Grade 3 status since 2006. It was run at Hakodate Racecourse in 2013. The race was contested over 1000 metres until 2000. Danon Smash
Danon Smash ( ja, ダノンスマッシュ, link=no foaled 6 March 2015) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse best known for his performances in sprint races. He won twice as a juvenile in 2017 and took two more races, including the Grade 3 Keihan Hai as a three-year-old in the following year. In 2019 he began to emerge as a top-class sprinter as he recorded further Grade 3 victories in the Silk Road Stakes and the Keeneland Cup as well as running third in the Grade 1 Sprinters Stakes. Kazuo Fujisawa
(born September 22, 1951, in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, Japan) is a retired trainer of Thoroughbred race horses. He had been a licensed trainer in Japan since 1987 and since 1993 has won the training title eleven times. He has trained three horses that were voted Japanese Horse of the Year on four occasions: Taiki Shuttle (1998), Symboli Kris S (2002, 2003) and Zenno Rob Roy (2004). Currently Fujisawa is the trainer of Casino Drive who won the 2008 Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont Park in New York. Fujisawa retired from horse training on February 28, 2022 as he had reached the age of retirement, with his stable winning the 1,570th race on the day of his retirement. Christophe Patrice Lemaire (Japanese:, born 20 May 1979) is a French-born jockey. He has enjoyed much of his success on the Japanese flat racing circuit, with the most wins at Japan Racing Association racetracks for five consecutive years since 2017. Career Lemaire began racing in 1999, after he obtained the license required for a French jockey. Curren Chan ( ja, カレンチャン, link=no, foaled 31 March 2007) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse who won two JRA Awards. After finishing second on her only start as a juvenile she won three minor races from five starts as a three-year-old in 2010.
