Keel (band)
Keel is an American heavy metal band founded in 1984 in Los Angeles, California. They are best known for their rock anthem "The Right to Rock". The band was active until 1989, with a brief reunion in 1998. Keel reunited again in 2008 and toured in 2009 for their 25th anniversary. Although the band is still active to this day, they have not released any new material since 2010. History Keel was formed by former Steeler vocalist Ron Keel. The original members were Ron Keel on vocals, former Icon / Schoolboys member David Michael Phillips on guitar, Marc Ferrari on lead & rhythm guitars, Bobby Marks on drums and Kenny Chaisson on bass guitar. Within months, Phillips left to join King Kobra and was replaced by ex-Cheetah guitarist Bryan Jay. This was the lineup for their 1984 debut album '' Lay Down the Law''. The Right To Rock
''The Right to Rock'' is the second studio album by American glam metal band Keel (band), Keel. It was the first to be produced by Kiss (band), Kiss's Gene Simmons under their new label Gold Mountain Records (which was distributed by A&M Records at the time). When the band started recording the album, drummer Bobby Marks left. He was replaced by different drummers: Fred Coury (who went on to join Cinderella (band), Cinderella), Barry Brandt (of Angel (American band), Angel) and Steve Riley (drummer), Steve Riley (who plays on the entire album but subsequently left to join the band W.A.S.P. (band), W.A.S.P.). Dwain Miller eventually became the band's permanent drummer right before the album was released. The band had only written three songs when the label sent them to the studio, therefore Keel covered three Gene Simmons demos and re-recorded three songs from their debut album - "Tonight You're Mine" was renamed to "You're the Victim (I'm the Crime)" for this album. Marc Ferrari
Marc Schumann(known professionally as Marc Ferrari) (born January 27, 1962) is an American musician, author, entrepreneur and investor. He is best known for his work as a guitar player in the 1980s and 1990s rock bands Keel, Cold Sweat, and Medicine Wheel. Keel was known for its power rock anthem "The Right to Rock" from the album of the same name produced by Gene Simmons of KISS. The band toured extensively with the likes of Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe, Dio, Queensrÿche and others before disbanding in 1989. Ferrari then formed the band Cold Sweat, which released its only major label offering "Break Out" in 1990. In the 1992 feature film ''Wayne's World'', Ferrari appeared as the guitarist of Crucial Taunt, reprising his role in ''Wayne's World 2'' (1993). Patti Smith
Patricia Lee Smith (born December 30, 1946) is an American singer, songwriter, poet, painter and author who became an influential component of the New York City punk rock movement with her 1975 debut album '' Horses''. Called the "punk poet laureate", Smith fused rock and poetry in her work. Her most widely known song is " Because the Night", which was co-written with Bruce Springsteen. It reached number 13 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in 1978 and number five in the UK. In 2005, Smith was named a Commander of the ''Ordre des Arts et des Lettres'' by the French Ministry of Culture. In 2007, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Because The Night
"Because the Night" is a rock song written by Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith that was first released in 1978 as a single from the Patti Smith Group album, ''Easter''. This version rose to No. 13 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart, as well as No. 5 in the United Kingdom, and helped propel sales of ''Easter'' to mainstream success. The song has subsequently been covered by numerous artists, and at least two of these cover versions have been chart hits. A 1992 version of the song by Co.Ro was a hit in several countries in Europe and South America. It reached No. 1 in Spain and the Top 10 in Belgium, France, Greece and Italy. Gene Simmons
Gene Simmons (born Chaim Witz; he, חיים ויץ, ; born August 25, 1949) is an Israeli-American musician. Also known by his stage persona The Demon, he is the bassist and co-lead singer of Kiss, the hard rock band he co-founded with Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss in the early 1970s. Simmons was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 as a member of Kiss. ''Lay Down the Law'' is the debut album by the American glam metal band Keel. It was the only album to feature original drummer Bobby Marks. Also, three songs - "Speed Demon", "Tonight You're Mine", and the Rolling Stones cover "Let's Spend the Night Together" - were re-recorded for their next album ''The Right to Rock'', although the version of "Let's Spend The Night Together" on this album ends with reprises of earlier album tracks, while "Tonight You're Mine" was re-recorded as "You're the Victim (I'm the Crime)" with altered lyrics. The album was released in November 1984 by Shrapnel Records to rave reviews, despite the band signing to Gold Mountain Records a few months prior. It was not released on CD format until 2008. Icon (band)
Icon is an American heavy metal band that formed in 1979, disbanding in 1990. Icon has fully reformed as of 2008, currently consisting of three-fifths of the classic lineup: Dan Wexler (guitar), Stephen Clifford (lead vocals), and John Aquilino (guitar), along with Dave Henzerling (bass) and Gary Bruzzese (drums). History Formation Originally known as The Schoolboys in 1979 (maybe earlier), Icon was formed in 1981, in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, by high school friends Dan Wexler (guitar), Stephen Clifford (lead vocals) and Tracy Wallach (bass). They were joined by Dave Henzerling (guitar) and John Covington (drums). Schoolboys released an EP ''Singin' Shoutin and had a few songs on compilation albums. Scott Warren
Scott Warren (born November 3, 1962) is an American musician best known as the keyboardist for the heavy metal band Dio from 1994 until the band's dissolution in 2010. Scott began playing keyboard instruments at six years old. He first taught himself how to play, but was later trained professionally at Dick Grove School of Music. In addition to Dio, Warren has worked with the bands Warrant, Keel, Berlin, and Heaven & Hell, the latter of which also featured Ronnie James Dio. Today Warren is part of the band Dio Disciples, which includes surviving members of the final line-up of Dio, along with former Lynch Mob vocalist Oni Logan. He also plays in the band Hellion, alongside fellow Dio Disciples member Simon Wright. Dio Warren joined Dio to play keyboards on the '' Strange Highways'' tour in 1993.
