Keddie is a census-designated place in Plumas County, California, United States. The population was 66 at the 2010 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , all of it land. Keddie is the location of the Keddie Wye, a railroad junction that features bridges and tunnels. History A post office called Keddie was established in 1910, and remained in operation until 1966. The community's name honors Arthur W. Keddie, a railroad surveyor. Keddie was also the site of the Keddie murders, a notorious unsolved mass murder. Demographics 2010 The 2010 United States Census reported that the CDP had a population of 66. Keddies
Keddies was a small chain of department stores in Essex, England, with its flagship store in a prime location in Southend High Street (originally called the Broadway). The business had a national reputation, being recognised in The Fashion Handbook and appearing on the side of a Matchbox model 17C bus. Keddies closed for business on 26 February 1996 after going into administration. Early years The store was started by George James Keddie in 1892 at 144-146 High Street as a Drapery. The store expanded to become a full department store, selling everything from penny lines to more extravagant goods. In the 1920s Keddies opened drapery stores in London Road, Hadleigh (on the corner with Rectory Road); Market Hill, Coggeshall (Sold 1928 ) and on The Broadway, Leigh-on-Sea (on the corner with Oakleigh Park Drive). Alex Keddie
Alex Keddie is a Scottish former footballer who played as a defender. Keddie began his career with Leeds United and St Johnstone, before moving into Junior football with Cumbernauld United and Shotts Bon Accord. At the age of 24, Keddie returned to full-time football and played for Stranraer, Ross County, Dunfermline Athletic and Arbroath, before retiring in 2014. Career He started his career in the youth team of Leeds United, where he won the FA Youth Cup, before having a short spell with Scottish Premier League side St Johnstone. After leaving St Johnstone, Keddie played Junior football with Cumbernauld United and Shotts Bon Accord. Asher Keddie (born 31 July 1974) is an Australian actress. Beginning her career in the television series ''Five Mile Creek'' in the mid 1980s, Keddie received wide recognition for her role in the television series ''Offspring''. Bob Keddie
Robert Mackay Keddie (born 10 May 1946) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and West Adelaide, South Adelaide and Glenelg in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Career Keddie made his debut for Hawthorn in 1965 and in the subsequent seasons became a highly effective half forward flanker for the club. He was Hawthorn's Best & Fairest winner in 1967 and 1969 and for his performances at the 1969 Adelaide Carnival for Victoria he earned All Australian selection. In 1967 Keddie was selected in the first Australian Team to tour Ireland and the USA to play Gaelic Football. During the 1970 VFL season Keddie kicked 47 goals for the year. He was overshadowed, however, by teammate Peter Hudson who kicked 146 goals. Henrietta Keddie
Henrietta Keddie (1827–1914) was a prolific Scottish novelist who wrote under the pseudonym Sarah Tytler. Her domestic realism became popular with women, as did her conduct books for girls. Life Henrietta Keddie was born at Cupar, Fife, on 4 March 1827 to Philip Keddie (1793/4–1852), a lawyer, and his wife, Mary, née Gibb (d. 1869). She spent her childhood summers at Grange Farm, outside Elie and Earlsferry, where her father owned a coalmine. She was educated by an older sister, Margaret, and then attended school in Leith for a time. The family broke up in the 1840s, although "Grange collieries" continued to some extent up to the early 1860s. In 1848, Henrietta and three of her sisters set up a school in Cupar. Jack Keddie (12 February 1922 – 15 August 1945) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon. Considered to be a great talent, his league career was cut short due to war. Nikki R. Keddie (née Anita Ragozin, August 30, 1930) is an American scholar of Eastern, Iranian, and women's history. She is Professor Emerita of History at University of California, Los Angeles.
