Kebun Baru also known as Nee Soon South is a precinct within Ang Mo Kio, Singapore. It is located in the west of Ang Mo Kio and bounded by Mayflower district and Bishan - Ang Mo Kio Park. The current Member of Parliament (MP) for this precinct is Henry Kwek (Kebun Baru SMC). Former MP includes Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong when the precinct is in the Teck Ghee ward of Ang Mo Kio GRC. Ang Mo Kio is a planning area and residential town situated in the North-East of Singapore. Located approximately north of the Downtown Core district, Ang Mo Kio is the 3rd most populated planning area in the North-East Region and ranks 8th in terms of population in the country overall. The planning area is located at the south-western corner of the North-East Region, bordered by the planning areas of Yishun to the north, Sengkang to the north-east, Serangoon to the east, Bishan to the south and the Central Water Catchment to the west. Henry Kwek
Henry Kwek Hian Chuan ( zh, s=郭献川, p=Guō Xiànchuān; born 20 April 1976) is a Singaporean politician and businessman. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing Kebun Baru SMC since 2020 and previously the Kebun Baru division of Nee Soon GRC between 2015 and 2020. Education Kwek attended The Chinese High School and Victoria Junior College before graduating from Stanford University, where he majored in economics and management science. Career Kwek is also an executive director of a Singapore-based investment, trading and management consulting company. Political career Kwek has spoken in Parliament about issues facing the elderly and their caregivers, and opportunities for Singapore-based companies and start-ups. Mayflower MRT Station
Mayflower MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Thomson–East Coast line (TEL) in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore. Situated underneath Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4, the station serves various landmarks including the Kebun Baru Heights Estate, Kebun Baru Community Centre, and CHIJ Saint Nicholas Girls' School. First announced in August 2012 as part of the Thomson line (TSL), the station was constructed as part of TEL Phase 2 (TEL2) with the merger of the TSL and the Eastern Region line (ERL). Building the station required multiple traffic diversions while having to construct the station along the slope. Opening on 28 August 2021 along with the TEL2 stations, Mayflower station features a unique honeycomb motif and is decorated with bird sculptures as part of the Art-in-Transit artwork in the station. Ang Mo Kio GRC
The Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the north eastern region of Singapore. The constituency encompasses the majority of Ang Mo Kio (Teck Ghee, Cheng San-Seletar, portions of Yio Chu Kang), Seletar Hills, the northern half of Serangoon North, a portion of northern Hougang and a portion of Fernvale. The western portion consists of parts of the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, while in the northeastern corner, it borders the Straits of Johor with two reclaimed islands, Pulau Punggol Barat and Pulau Punggol Timor. Lee Hsien Loong
Lee Hsien Loong (; born 10 February 1952) is a Singaporean politician and former brigadier-general who has been serving as Prime Minister of Singapore and Secretary-General of the People's Action Party since 2004. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Teck Ghee division of Ang Mo Kio GRC since 1991, and previously Teck Ghee SMC between 1984 and 1991. Kebun Baru Single Member Constituency
The Kebun Baru Single Member Constituency is a single member constituency in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore. The current Member of Parliament for the constituency is Henry Kwek of the People's Action Party (PAP). History The original Kebun Baru SMC was carved from the now-defunct Ang Mo Kio Single Member Constituency in 1980. It was helmed by Lim Boon Heng throughout its first 11 years of existence. It was absorbed into the new Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency (GRC) prior to the 1991 general election. Following the release of the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee's report on 13 March 2020, it was announced that, Kebun Baru SMC, would be re-introduced for the 2020 general election. Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park or Bishan-AMK Park, (formerly known as Bishan Park) is a major park in Singapore, located in the popular heartland of Bishan, Singapore, Bishan. Serving the residents of Bishan, Singapore, Bishan, Yishun and Ang Mo Kio, the park sits entirely within Bishan, running along the Ang Mo Kio–Bishan boundary line, which is situated at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1.
