Kazuyuki Toda
is a Japanese former professional footballer who played as a midfielder or defender. He played for the Japan national team until 2002. He currently manager of SC Sagamihara from 2023. Club career Toda was born in Machida on 30 December 1977. After graduating from high school, he joined Shimizu S-Pulse in 1996. He played many matches as left defender. The club won 1999–2000 Asian Cup Winners' Cup. In 2001, he was converted to defensive midfielder as Santos successor. The club won the champions 2001 Emperor's Cup. In 2003, he moved to England and signed with Tottenham Hotspur, but only played four games for the team. In 2004, he moved to Netherlands club ADO Den Haag. In July, he returned to Shimizu S-Pulse. In 2005, he moved to Tokyo Verdy. However the club relegated to J2 League and he moved to Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2006. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup
The 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup was the fifth FIFA Confederations Cup and the third to be organised by FIFA. It was also the first in which the original hosts, Saudi Arabia, did not participate (they were the nation who founded the tournament, previously known as the King Fahd Cup). The tournament was played from 30 May to 10 June 2001, and co-hosted by South Korea and Japan, who were also hosts for the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals. It was won by France, beating hosts Japan 1–0, with a goal from Patrick Vieira. FIFA Confederations Cup
The FIFA Confederations Cup was an international association football tournament for men's national teams, held every four years by FIFA. It was contested by the holders of each of the six continental championships ( AFC, CAF, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, OFC, and UEFA), along with the current FIFA World Cup holder and the host nation, to bring the number of teams up to eight. Between 2001 and 2017 (with an exception in 2003), the tournament was held in the country that would host the World Cup the following year, acting as a test event for the larger tournament. Emperor's Cup
, commonly known as or also Japan FA Cup is a Japanese football competition. It has the longest tradition of any football match in Japan, dating back to 1921, before the formation of the J.League, Japan Football League and their predecessor, Japan Soccer League. Before World War II, teams could qualify not only from Japan proper but also from Empire of Japan's former-colonies such as Korea, Taiwan, and sometimes Manchukuo. The winning club qualifies for the AFC Champions League and the Japanese Super Cup. The women's equivalent to this tournament is the Empress's Cup. Ventforet Kofu is the current winners, having won its first title in the 2022 final.
